A budget raster to vector convertor to turns scanned drawings into CAD DXF
Softcover Scan2CAD v5 is a budget price raster to vector convertor. Scan2CAD allows PC CAD users to quickly convert any scanned paper drawing into an accurate DXF file for editing as a CAD drawing in any PC CAD program. At just ú99.88 (incl) it is ideal for PC CAD users with A4 - A3 desktop scanners.
Scan2CAD converts standard black and white raster file formats, like BMP (bitmaps) and TIF (Compressed Group 3 and 4). It converts any size of scanned paper drawing up to AO or any larger user-defined paper size. There is no limit on the size of file that can be converted but very large files are tiled into 128Mb sections, each with a common origin point. It saves the vectorised drawing as an industry standard DXF file which can be read by any PC CAD program, like AutoCAD R14, 2000, LT and similar.
Scan2CAD's raster editing commands include Despeckle (to remove dirt, stains, etc); Rotate (to align drawings that have been scanned in skew); and Scale (to ensure the vector output matches the original drawing in terms of paper size, scale, units of measure, etc). Eight default vectorisation setting are supplied. The user can take control of the process at any time over any part of the drawing with the option of centre line and outline tracking. Scan2CAD v5 includes SnapTidyTM vector editing tools. These hook onto grab points on line, arc, etc ends and centres to allow the user to quickly edit vectors line elements in Raster Overlay mode.
Scan2CAD includes OCR text recognition for a basic range of fonts. A plug-in Font TRaining Kit will be available soon as an optional extra for ú69 (excl).
Scan2CAD runs on Windows '95, '98 and NT and requires a minimum 8Mb RAM.
