  26. Updates to BootMagic will be made available on the PowerQuest web
  27. site.  Check the PowerQuest web site www.powerquest.com often to 
  28. download the latest version.

  31. 2. BMBoot to PQBoot
  32. -------------------
  33. BMBOOT.EXE no longer ships with BootMagic. It has been replaced with
  34. PQBOOT.EXE and PQBOOT32.EXE. PQBOOT.EXE is a 16-bit DOS program and
  35. has all the features of BMBoot, plus the features of PQBoot.
  36. PQBOOT32.EXE is the 32-bit version of PQBoot, and will run from
  37. Windows NT and Windows 9x.  PQBoot32 requires PQVXD.VXD to be in the
  38. same directory when run under Windows 9x.

  41. 3. Known Issues
  42. ---------------

  44.     A. Windows 2000
  45.     ---------------
  46.     BootMagic cannot be installed or configured from Windows
  47.     2000. BootMagic will boot Windows 2000 Professional properly, 
  48.     although it will be recognized as Windows NT.  Windows 2000 
  49.     Professional users can install and configure BootMagic from 
  50.     DOS or from another supported operating system.
  51.  
  52.     B. Removable Drives
  53.     -------------------
  54.     Problems with some removable media drives will cause 
  55.     significant delays when booting your machine.  If you are 
  56.     experiencing long delays and you have a removable media 
  57.     drive, make sure you have a cartridge in the drive when
  58.     you are booting your machine or configuring BootMagic.  
  59.  
  60.     C. Making Copies of the Home Partition
  61.     --------------------------------------
  62.     If you make a copy of the home partition using software such
  63.     as PartitionMagic(R) or Drive Image(R), you will end up with
  64.     two partitions that look like the home partition, and the
  65.     BootMagic configuration program will not run.  If your hard
  66.     drive is in this state, you must boot with the BootMagic 
  67.     rescue disk. The rescue disk will take you through the steps 
  68.     needed to fix the problem.

  70.     D. Installing to a Compressed Drive
  71.     -----------------------------------
  72.     We recommend that you do not install BootMagic to a partition
  73.     that already has disk compression installed on it.  If you
  74.     choose to install BootMagic to a partition with disk
  75.     compression, we recommend you uninstall the disk compression
  76.     software from your disk before installing BootMagic.  For
  77.     information on uninstalling your disk compression software,
  78.     see your disk compression documentation.

  80.     If you decide to install BootMagic onto a drive with disk
  81.     compression, you must make sure the portion of the disk that
  82.     is not compressed (the host partition) is large enough for
  83.     BootMagic.  BootMagic must be installed on the uncompressed
  84.     portion of your hard disk.  For information on adjusting free
  85.     space from the compressed volume to the host partition, see
  86.     your disk compression documentation.

  88.     For BootMagic to operate correctly, ensure the disk compression
  89.     software is configured to make the host partition visible and
  90.     assign it a drive letter.  If your host partition is set to
  91.     Hidden, BootMagic may continue to install, but you will not be
  92.     able to run the BootMagic Configuration program or uninstall
  93.     BootMagic.  If BootMagic tries to install to a drive letter
  94.     that you are not aware you have, your system may have disk
  95.     compression software installed and it may have hidden the host
  96.     partition.

  98.     E. Uninstalling the DOS Installation and Uninstalling Manually
  99.     --------------------------------------------------------------
  100.     If you installed BootMagic using the DOS installation and wish
  101.     to uninstall, or if you wish to uninstall manually, do the
  102.     following:
  103.  
  104.     Disable BootMagic in the BootMagic Configuration program by
  105.     unchecking the "BootMagic Enabled" check box and clicking the
  106.     "Save/Exit" button.  Reboot your machine and delete the
  107.     \BTMAGIC.PQ subdirectory.
  108.  
  109.     F. IDE/SCSI Disk Mixes on Windows NT
  110.     ------------------------------------
  111.     If you are running Windows NT Workstation with SCSI and IDE 
  112.     hard disks, and you have set your computer to boot from one 
  113.     of the SCSI drives, the drives may appear in a different order 
  114.     in the BootMagic Configuration program than they appear at 
  115.     boot time.  This can result in BootMagic failing to appear 
  116.     after installing from Windows NT Workstation.

  118.     Also, menu items added to the BootMagic menu under Windows NT
  119.     may not be found at boot time.  As a work-around, install
  120.     BootMagic from DOS or Windows 9x and run the BootMagic
  121.     Configuration program from DOS or Windows 9x.
