- * The McAfee UnInstaller has a new central interface
- for you to easily access the individual components
- of the product. The main window also provide status
- information such as: available and used space
- on your hard drive; scheduled cleanup; and the last
- time you ran QuickClean on your computer.

- * Through the main screen, it now also provides a
- single update button to automatically update all of
- the installed components of McAfee UnInstaller.
- The Update feature uses McAfee Software Update Finder
- to search for any available updates.

- DC1 - DOCUMENTATION

- Network Associates provides each of its
- products with an extensive set of documentation,
- consisting usually of one or more product guides
- saved in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format
- (.PDF), and an online help system, whose form
- can vary, depending on the platform on which the
- product runs.

- Acrobat .PDF files are flexible online documents
- that contain hyperlinks, outlines and other aids
- for easy navigation and information retrieval.
- You can also install an Acrobat plug-in file
- that allows you to read .PDF documents from
- within your web browser while online. Copies
- of the product documentation come with the
- product CD-ROM.

- * An online help system. Online help gives you
- quick access to hints and tips about how to
- use your Network Associates software. The

- product will vary, depending on which
- platform or operating system you use to run
- your Network Associates product. In most
- cases, the software will display a Help menu
- item or link that you can use to start the
- system.

- Some products might also include context-
- sensitive online help. Right-click buttons,
- lists or other elements within dialog boxes
- to see brief, descriptive help topics.

- * A LICENSE.TXT file. This file outlines the
- terms of your license to use your Network
- Associates product. Read it carefully. If
- you install the Network Associates product,
- you agree to the license terms.

- * This Readme.txt file. This file contains
- last-minute additions or changes to the
- documentation, lists any known behavior or
- other issues with the product release,
- and often describes new product features
- incorporated into incremental product
- updates.

- SR1 - SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
-
- To use McAfee UnInstaller you need:
-
- * At least 18MB of free hard disk space
- for a full installation.
-
- * You can install and run UnInstaller if
- your computer is running Windows « 95
- or later, or Windows NT 4.0 or later.
-
- * To take full advantage of McAfee UnInstaller's
- automatic update feature, you should have an
- Internet connection, either through your
- local-area network, or via a high-speed
- modem and an Internet service provider.

- IN1 - INSTALLATION
-
-
- To install McAfee UnInstaller:
-
- 1. Insert the UnInstaller CD into your CD drive.
- The installation wizard should start
- automatically. If it does not, click the drive
- letter of your CD drive in Windows Explorer,
- and double-click the file named Setup.exe in the
- file list.
- 2. In the first installation wizard page, click
- Install UnInstaller.
- 3. Follow the instructions in the wizard pages to
- choose the drive and folder where UnInstaller
- should be installed. After each step, click Next.
- 4. Use the Interview wizard to specify some initial
- UnInstaller defaults.
-
- As part of completing installation, UnInstaller
- builds the SmartLinks database for your computer
- while you provide information in a user interview.
- When the interview is complete, the installation
- program might still be building the SmartLinks
- database. Building the database takes a few minutes.
- The larger your hard disk and the more data files it
- contains, the longer it takes.
- 5. After the SmartLinks database is complete, the following
- setup screens ask you whether you want to:
- -Place a shortcut to UnInstaller on the desktop. A desktop
- shortcut lets you quickly start UnInstaller simply by
- double-clicking the UnInstaller icon.
- 6. Click Finish in the final setup screen.
- Note: By default, the Readme file appears in Notepad.
- If you do not want to read the release notes in the
- Readme file, clear the check in the View release notes?
- check box before you click Finish.
