  26.  Computer:    100% Windows 95 DirectX compatible computer
  27.         required. Compatible with Windows 98 Release

  54. 3D Acceleration
  55. ---------------
  56.  3D Acceleration is not available in the Grim Fandango demo.
  57.  It will be a feature in the full version of the game.

  60. Desktop Color Palette
  61. ---------------------
  62.  We recommend that you set your desktop to High Color (16 bit)
  63.  color.  When playing Grim Fandango with your desktop set to a
  64.  color palette other than 16 bit, you may experience various
  65.  problems while running the game.

  68. Task Switching
  69. --------------
  70.  We recommend that you do not task switch while playing the Grim
  71.  Fandango demo if your desktop palette is not set to 16 bit color.
  72.  At the time of release of this demo, we have seen problems while
  73.  task-switching on various video cards that can cause the demo to
  74.  lock up or quit unexpectedly.

  77. CTRL-ESC
  78. --------
  79.  We recommend that you do not use CTRL-ESC while playing the demo.

  82. Operating Systems Supported
  83. ---------------------------
  84.  To be able to run Grim Fandango, you must have Windows 95 as
  85.  your operating system and your system must be 100% DirectX
  86.  compatible. This program is Windows 98 compatible, but upon
  87.  release of this demo, Windows 98 has not been released, so we
  88.  have been unable to verify full compatibility with this oper-
  89.  ating system. MS-DOS, Windows 3.1x, Windows NT 3.x, Windows
  90.  NT 4.0 and OS/2 are not supported. For more information on
  91.  DirectX, see Section 4 of this Troubleshooting Guide.

  94. If Launcher Screen is Too Large for Screen
  95. -----------------------------------------
  96.  If your font size is set to "Large Fonts", the launcher will
  97.  appear to be twice as large as it should be and you may not be
  98.  able to see all of the launcher buttons. We suggest you set
  99.  your fonts to "Small" to see the entire launcher.  To do so:
  100.  * Right-click on your desktop
  101.  * Click on "Properties"
  102.  * Click on the "Settings" tab
  103.  * Click on the box under "Font size" near the bottom
  104.  * Click on "Small Fonts"
  105.  * Click on the "OK" button at the bottom of the window

  108. Installing the Grim Fandango Demo
  109. ---------------------------------
  110.  Insert the Grim Fandango Demo into your CD-ROM drive. The
  111.  Launcher screen will open automatically unless Autoplay is
  112.  disabled. If it does not, double-click on the My Computer
  113.  icon, then the CD-ROM icon. This should bring up the
  114.  launcher menu. If it does not, double-click on Grim.exe in
  115.  the window that opens. Click on the top button from the
  116.  following options and the installer will guide you through
  117.  the installation process.

  132. Running the Grim Fandango Demo
  133. ------------------------------
  134.  To run the demo, click on Lucasarts\Grim Fandango Demo in your
  135.  Start Menu.  This will bring up the Launcher screen with the
  136.  following options:

  142.    * Install DirectX 5.2

  149.  Although it is possible to run the executable directly off of
  150.  the CD, we recommend that you use the shortcuts the installer
  151.  creates or make a shortcut to grimdemo.exe which is on your
  152.  hard disk in the directory where you installed the game. The
  153.  default location is C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Grimdemo. Run-
  154.  ning the executable directly from the CD may cause the game
  155.  to run much more slowly and hit the CD much harder.

  158. PLAYING THE GAME

  160. Saving a Game
  161. -------------
  162.  Saving and loading a game have been disabled in the demo
  163.  version of Grim Fandango. These features will be enabled in
  164.  the full version.

  166. Mouse Support

  168.  There is no mouse support in this demo.

  170. In-Game Help Screen
  171. -------------------
  172.  Press the F1 key to bring up the in-game help screen. This
  173.  will show you the keyboard controls for the game. It also
  174.  displays information in red next to the CTRL key functions
  175.  to display the status of these commands.

  223.  The Grim Fandango demo supports two different movement modes:
  224.  character-relative and camera-relative. Character-relative
  225.  movement is the default mode; your left and right on the key-
  226.  board is the same as Manny's left and right. Camera-relative
  227.  movement means that your left and right on the keyboard is the
  228.  same as left and right on the screen, independent of the
  229.  direction that Manny is facing.
