There are other exceptions, mainly where a country name includes an adjective, as mentioned in our original list. These include the United States, the United Arab Emirates, also The Netherlands, the Faroe Islands, but as these weren't in the list of names, they haven't been included here. Note that for countries where constructions have been completely expanded, their entry in the document names172.ger.doc will only contain the first few letters of the name (so that there is at least something in the table). The file names172.ger.doc should not be used as a dictionary for these country names unless you read the comments column in that document.
