  3. Q  How secure is my data with Password Corral?
  4.  
  5. A  Extreamly secure. That said, your data is only as secure as the master
  6.    password you choose to encrypt it with. Don't use easy to guess, short
  7.    words. Don't use your name or birth date. Do use a combination of upper
  8.    and lower case letters and numbers. You can also use special characters
  9.    in your password, like the "+" and "&" characters.

  12. Q  How secure is my data in a Password Corral export file?
  13.  
  14. A  Password Corral export files are just as secure as the data the program
  15.    stores in the Windows registry.

  18. Q  Are there any "back doors" in Password Corral? Can Cygnus Productions or
  19.    the U.S. government easily view my data?
  20.  
  21. A  There are absolutely no back doors or secret ways for Cygnus
  22.    Productions, the U.S. government, or anyone for that matter, to decrypt
  23.    your data. The master password you choose for your Password Corral
  24.    account is the only way to successfully decrypt your data.

  27. Q  If I forget my master password, is there any way to recover my data?
  28.  
  29. A  No. Your master password is the only way to decrypt your passwords.
  30.    Without it there is no way to recover your data.

  33. Q  Is Password Corral Year 2000 Ready?

  35. A  Yes. See the BUGS.TXT file for more information.

  38. Q  Where does Password Corral store my password information?
  39.  
  40. A  Your password information is stored in the Windows registry. This makes
  41.    it easy for Password Corral to access the information in a standardized
  42.    fashion. Keep in mind that if you should remove Windows from your
  43.    system, format the hard disk with Windows on it, or in any other way
  44.    delete your Windows directory, you'll lose your password information.
  45.    Always have a backup copy (export file) of your passwords. A future
  46.    version of Password Corral will move the password information from the
  47.    registry to a file, but there is currently no timetable for this.

  50. Q  Why is Password Corral for use only in the USA and Canada?
  51.  
  52. A  United States law prohibits us from permitting use to residents in
  53.    countries other than the US and Canada. Any cryptographic materials that
  54.    use an encryption algorithm with a key greater than 40-bits cannot be
  55.    exported. Until this law changes we cannot grant permission to use
  56.    Password Corral to anyone outside the US or Canada.

  59. Q  Will Password Corral be ported to any other platforms, like UNIX or the
  60.    Macintosh?

  62. A  At the current time there are no plans to port Password Corral to any
  63.    other platform. This is, of course, subject to change.

  66. Q  I'm a disk/software vendor and would like to include Password Corral in
  67.    a disk/CD/on-line collection of software for distribution. Does Cygnus
  68.    Productions allow this?
  69.  
  70. A  As long as your business is a US or Canadian company and does not
  71.    distribute Password Corral outside of either said countries, Cygnus
  72.    Productions grants the right to distribute Password Corral at will,
  73.    providing it is not-for-profit (save a small fee to recover any
  74.    manufacturing or distribution costs), that Cygnus Productions receives
  75.    full credit for the program and that the program remains unmodified and
  76.    ships with all it's original files intact. It is requested that the
  77.    software compilation and any included magazine or documentation be sent
  78.    to us for our records. Those wishing to distribute Password Corral for
  79.    profit should contact Cygnus Productions for written permission and any
  80.    applicable licensing terms and fees.
