  69.  IV.  INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
  70.       1. Format a 1.44 MB (High Density) blank diskette and
  71.          Insert it into the A: drive of your PC. (*NOTE:
  72.          You may prefer to create a install directory on you pc
  73.          by typing md $$$$ where $$$$ is the name of your directory.)

  75.       2. If you have installed a previous version of this driver
  76.          you should go to the Lexmark Colorjetprinter 1000 folder
  77.          and run the uninstall program by double clicking on the
  78.          uninstall icon. and then restart Windows.

  81.       3. If you are running Windows 95, skip to step 5.  If you
  82.      are running Windows 3.1 or 3.11, click File, Run, and 
  83.      enter RUNME.BAT preceded by the directory that contains 
  84.      the driver file you just downloaded.  (Example: 
  85.          C:\CJ1000\RUNME.BAT).

  87.       4. Windows 3.x:  Insert disk and Click FILE, RUN, and type
  88.          a:\setup.  The driver files will be installed on your
  89.          system. Enter the appropriate printer port when prompted,
  90.          then skip to step 7.

  92.          **note--If you using an install directory you would type
  93.          your install path in the place of a: such as c:\temp\setup.
  94.

  96.       5. Windows 95: Insert the disk and click START, RUN,
  97.          and type RUNME.BAT preceded by the directory that contains
  98.          the driver file you just downloaded.  (Example:
  99.          C:\CJ1000\RUNME.BAT).  The driver and installation program
  100.          will be copied to the diskettes in your A: drive or to the
  101.          directory of your choice.

  103.       6. Windows 95:  Insert the disk into A:, Click START, SETTINGS, PRINTERS,
  104.          and then double click on the ADD PRINTER icon.  In the printer wizard
  105.          click on NEXT, LOCAL PRINTER, NEXT, HAVE DISK.  Enter a: or the path
  106.          of your install directory  as the manufactures files and click OK.
  107.          Then click on NEXT and select the printer port, and choose NEXT.  Click
  108.          on finish to begin coping files.  The driver files will be installed
  109.          on your system.  Enter the appropriate printer port when prompted.

  111.       7. You should Restart Windows for the driver update to take
  112.      effect. After you have verified that the driver is 
  113.      installed and working properly, you may want to erase
  114.          the files that you originally down loaded - CJWN1MLE.EXE,
  115.          CJ1000.EXE, RUNME.BAT, AVEXTRA.TXT.

  117.       8. Click on the Readme icon in the Lexmark 1000 group
  118.          for more information on your printer.
