  5. Photo Icons is a professional icon processing tool that allows you
  6. to create and modify Windows icons at any color depths (up to 24-bit
  7. or true color). Using high performance imaging toolkit developed by
  8. LEAD Technologies, an industry leader in imaging technology, Photo
  9. Icons allows you to convert any image of any size and any color
  10. depth into the standard Windows icon format (32x32) at 16, 256,
  11. 65,536, and 16.7 million colors.  A screen capture utility is also
  12. provided so you can capture any area of the screen into an icon.
  13. Photo Icons is the ultimate icon utility you everneed to create and
  14. modify photo-realistic icons.

  16. Photo Icons also allows you to extract icon(s) embedded inside
  17. DLL/EXE files and save them under ICO format.

  19. Images/icons can be printed to any Windows-supported printers.  You
  20. can even print icons embedded inside DLL/EXE files without having
  21. to extract them first.

  41. DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SHAREWARE & REGISTERED VERSIONS

  43. The shareware version of Photo Icons allows you to create and edit
  44. 16-color ICOs.  To create, edit, extract, convert, capture 256,
  45. 65,536 and 16.7 million-color icons and access an array of more
  46. than 40 different image file formats (including the most popular
  47. ones such as BMP (Microsoft Windows and IBM OS/2), JPG (JPEG), PCD
  48. (Kodak Photo CD), TIFF, (Tagged Image File Format), PNG (the new
  49. Compuserve Portable Network Graphics), PSD (PhotoShop 3.0), WPG
  50. (WordPerfect), WMF (Windows Metafile), PCX, CMP (LEAD 1BIT), ICA
  51. (IBM IOCA), MAC (MacPaint), and TGA (Truevision Targa), etc.,) you
  52. must register Photo Icons to obtain the latest registered version.

  85. In order to gain the most from Photo Icons, it is recommended
  86. that you run the software under color modes higher than 256
  87. such as 32K or 64K color depth mode.

  95.   4. TWAIN-compliant scanner (optional).

  102. Photo Icons has been developed and tested on a 486DX66 with 8MB of RAM, a 
  103. 1 MB Diamond Stealth 24 Windows accelerator board (at screen resolutions 
  104. 640x480x16, 640x480x256, 640x480x65536, 800x600x256, 800x600x65536,
  105. 1024x768x16, and 1024x768x256), a trackball, and mouse.  It has also
  106. been tested on a 100 MHz Pentium-based machine with 16 MB of RAM, a 1 MB 
  107. Diamond Stealth 64 SE (PCI) and a 150 MHz Pentium-based machine with 32 MB
  108. of RAM, a 2 MB VRAM Diamond Stealth Video 3200 with the same above settings.

  110. Photo Icons was also tested on the following computers:
  111. 1) 100 MHz PCI Pentium-based computer with 16 MB RAM and a 1 MB DRAM PCI 
  112.    Diamond Stealth SE.
  113. 2) 150 Mhz PCI Pentium-based computer with 32 MB RAM and a 2 MB VRAM 
  114.    Diamond Stealth Video 3200 (S3-968) under the above resolutions and 
  115.    color depth modes.
  116. 3) IBM P5-133 with 32 MB RAM and a 1MB DRAM PCI Diamond Stealth (S3-764).
  117. 4) AST Bravo LC 4/33s with 8MB of RAM and a 512K ATI video card.
  118. 5) Sharp PC-9050 notebook computer with 32 MB RAM and a 2 MB VRAM PCI 
  119.    Trident (9660/9680/938X) linear accelerator.

  121. The following printers were successfully  tested:
  122. 1) HP LaserJet 4L.
  123. 2) HP LaserJet 5L.
  124. 3) Brother HL-720.
  125. 4) Canon BJC-610.
  126. 5) Epson Stylus Color.
  127. 6) Epson Stylus Color Pro.

  129. Photo Icons has not been tested in other environments because I
  130. do not have all the time and resources in this rapidly changing
  131. computer world.  Therefore, unless you have the above tested
  132. hardware and software I cannot guarantee that it will work on
  133. your system.

  137. REGISTRATION
  138. ------------
  139. For your convenience, a registration form is provided on line
  140. under Help on the menu bar. The registration fee is $29.  The
  141. registered version supports over 40 image file formats.  A
  142. separate TWAIN module is also available for an additional $14.
  143. The TWAIN option adds the image scanning capability to Photo Icons.
  144. As of this writing, I only accept money orders, cashiers checks,
  145. bank checks, or personal checks. Please fill in the registration
  146. form and mail it along with your payment to:

  158. Registered users will receive a temporary license file through
  159. internet e-mail (uuencoded or MIME-encoded).  The license file
  160. will recognize you as a registered user and allow you full access
  161. to all Photo Icons features.  Your permanent license file
  162. registered in your name (or your company name) and the latest
  163. version of Photo Icons will be in the mail the next business day.

  165. International users may transfer $US 29 directly to my Bank of
  166. America account.  There will be an additional processing fee of
  167. $10 because that's how much BoA charges my account for Fund
  168. Transfer Service.  You will have to contact me by e-mail to
  169. obtain my account number for this type of payment.

  171. A site license is required by a corporation, company, educational
  172. institution, or governmental agency for use of Photo Icons
  173. software on the total number of computers that will use the software.
