  30. On this issue of ComponentSource you will find demonstrations,
  31. technical specifications, retail help files and encrypted
  32. full retail versions of hundreds of software components for visual
  33. development tools.

  57. 2. Installing and Using ComponentSource

  61. Important! Please do not uninstall other ComponentSource CDs.
  62.

  64. Please follow these steps to use your ComponentSource CD.
  65.  
  66.  
  67. 1. This ComponentSource CD 11 is the latest 
  68.    update to the ComponentSource CD Library
  69.  
  70. 2. CD 11 contains a database of ALL the available 
  71.    products in the current CD Library
  72.  
  73. 3. The current ComponentSource CD Library consists of CDs 11, 10 & 9
  74.  
  75. 4. By installing CD 11 you will be able to see ALL 
  76.    the products on CDs 11, 10 & 9
  77.  
  78. 5. Earlier ComponentSource CDs 8 & 7 have been retired 
  79.    and can now be discarded
  80.  
  81. 6. To update your CD Library run SETUP on CD 11 and on 
  82.    any higher numbered CDs you receive
  83.  
  84. i) On Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0 run 'install' from the 
  85.    Add/Remove Programs applet in Control Panel.
  86.  
  87. ii) For Windows 3.1, Windows 3.11 and Windows NT 3.51 run 
  88.     SETUP.EXE in the CD's root directory from File Manager.
  89.  
  90. 7. To launch the CD Browser press Start and select ComponentSource 
  91.    from the Programs menu (For users of Win3.1/NT3.51 simply 
  92.    double-click the icon in the ComponentSource Program Group)
  93.  
  94. 8. Once launched the CD Browser allows you to view ALL of the 
  95.    products in the current CD Library
  96.  
  97. 9. On selecting a product you may be prompted to insert an 
  98.    earlier CD from the current CD Library
  99.  
  100. 10. You do not need to re-install the earlier CD - simply remove 
  101.     the CD currently in the drive, replace it with the requested CD, 
  102.     wait a short while for the CD to spin-up and then press Ok.

  106. If you do not have any of the earlier ComponentSource CDs then contact

  111. Minimum System Requirements :

  113. 486 66MHz (Pentium recommended)
  114. 12Mb RAM (16Mb recommended)
  115. 256 Colour VGA
  116. 8Mb Hard Disk
  117. Double Speed CD-ROM (Quad Speed recommended)
  118. Windows 3.1, Windows 3.11
  119. Windows95, Windows NT 3.51 or Windows NT 4.0 (32bit recommended)

  122. ComponentSource is designed to run best in 32bit Windows.
  123.  
  124. Depending on which system files you already have installed, 
  125. you will need on average approximately 5Mb of disk space on
  126. the drive that contains your Windows System directory and 
  127. another 5Mb of disk space on the drive where you choose to 
  128. install the program files.
  129.  
  130. Files called CSINST16.LOG (for 16bit machines) and CSINST32.LOG
  131. (for 32bit machines) will be created in the target directory
  132. after the installation and will contain a list of all files 
  133. that were copied onto your system. Please DO NOT delete these
  134. file as they are needed by the the UnInstall program, should you choose to run it.

  136. ComponentSource does not modify your WIN.INI, SYSTEM.INI,
  137. AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS files in any way. Dynamic link 
  138. libraries and other software components are copied to your Windows
  139. System directory. Older versioned or earlier dated files 
  140. are copied to the backup directory you specified during the 
  141. installation process. The installation program does not 
  142. overwrite later versioned, later dated system files.

  144. Should you wish to obtain a list of files included in the
  145. installation kit or would like to manually extract any files
  146. contained within them, run SETUP16.EXE or SETUP32.EXE located 
  147. in the \INFO directory with the "/X" command line parameter.
  148. You will find a full list of files together with file date, 
  149. time and size information.

  152. 3. UnInstalling ComponentSource
  153. ===============================

  156. Run 'ComponentSource UnInstall' from the ComponentSource Program
  157. Group created during the installation process or from the Add/Remove
  158. Programs applet on the Control Panel (Win95/WinNT4.0 only).
  159.  
  160. Uninstall gives you a choice of what you would like to remove. We
  161. recommend that you use the 'Automatic' option.
  162.

  165. If the UnInstaller asks if you would like to remove shared DLLs 
  166. that are not longer used, say 'No to All'. Removing shared files
  167. from Windows System, may stop other programs from working correctly.

  170. 4. Experiencing difficulties ?
  171. ==============================
  172.  
  173.  
  174. Problem    - SETUP went through OK but get 'Error loading from file'
  175.              or 'Object not found' when running the CD browser for the
  176.              first time.
  177. Resolution - The OCX's needed by the CD browser are not correctly
  178.              registered in the system registry. The program 
  179.              REG16.BAT (for 16bit machines) or REG32.BAT (for 32bit
  180.              machines), found in the CD's HELPME\REGISTER 
  181.              directory, will register them correctly for you.
  182.  
  183.              To run REG16.BAT or REG32.BAT just double click it 
  184.              from either File Manager or Windows 95 Explorer.
  185.              Several dialog boxes appear giving the status of 
  186.              each file registration. If any of the registrations
  187.              fail, please call ComponentSource on 
  188.              +44 (0) 118 958 1111.
  189.  
  190. Problem    - On Win311, if you do not have an internet browser on your
  191.              machine, ComponentSource will run the 16bit Microsoft
  192.              Internet Explorer. The first time this is run it works
  193.              fine but subsequently an error occurs if the option 
  194.              was selected to make it the default browser.
  195. Resolution - When running the Internet explorer for the first time 
  196.              select 'No' when asked if you would like to make the 
  197.              explorer your default browser.

  200. 5. This CD is Virus Checked

  203. All ComponentSource CDs are Virus Checked before and after manufacture.
