- Firstly, many thanks to those whose input helped make this bulletin
- possible; KT7H, W0RLI, AA4RE, N7HFZ, KA7TTY, KA1NNN, W0LVJ, N7NKJ, N6DCD -
- and many others!
- Even though they are unaware of it, they contributed information to make
- this bulletin possible.
-
- When uploading a bulletin to a Packet Radio BBS or mailbox the message
- or bulletin can be configured to be sent to the users you wish to contact,
- via the useage of @BBS designators. Here is an example:
- You are wishing to contact other Amateurs who can help with communications
- for a local event; it would be much better to send a bulletin asking
- for volunteers from the local area than it would be to send the same
- bulletin to @ALLUSA. For the Seattle area, "SB HELP @ PUGET" would be
- a good choice.
-
- Here is another example;
- If you desire to sell an item, first decide the size of the area you
- wish to send the bulletin to. For example, it would not be appropriate
- to post a bulletin from Western Washington to "ALLUSA" for a tower to be
- dismantled and picked up. Then a local designator would use very useful
- in this case.
-
- An example; SB SALE @ PUGET will provide local coverage for the Seattle area.
- SB meaning to Send Bulletin, thus "SB".
-
- If however you are sending a AMSAT bulletin that would require national
- coverage, which the @AMSAT designator would give, then the useage would
- be as; SB SAT @ AMSAT
- : : `- This is the @BBS designator for distribution.
- : `- When addressing the bulletin this is the TO: field.
- `- "SB" indicates that you are sending a Bulletin
- "SP" shows as a Personal message.
-
- This will allow a user to to a command from the BBS as; "L> SAT" and
- only get those messages address to "SAT" indicating Satellite data,
- from whoever sent the bulletin(s).
-
- Bulletins should NOT be sent as Private "SP" type of messages.
- If a bulletin is intended for many users, it should NOT be sent
- as "SP" as they will not be able to read it.
-
-
- When addressing a bulletin to a specific group of users, the following
- listing will enable those for whom you wish to contact to be better
- able to read your information;
-
- Continues in part 2 of "How to send a bulletin".
