  7.                 GCP: A Great Circle Program

  9.  This program was  written for the  potential benefit of all amateur radio
  10.  operators  and  may  be  distributed  freely  to  anyone  interested.  No
  11.  responsibility  is  taken  by the author with  regard  to  the  accuracy,
  12.  currency or usefulness of the program.

  14.  The  initial  release  of  the  program was  an  attempt  to  sample  the
  15.  usefulness  or otherwise of the  program and  to  judge  the  benefits of
  16.  further  development based on feedback (or lack of it)  and so, it had  a
  17.  few niceties omitted.

  19.  The release discussed  in this  document (Release  1.1), incorporates the
  20.  following enhancements:
  21.  
  22.      Some performance improvements through improved mathematics
  23.      A more consistent menu interface
  24.      Removal of a printing bug
  25.      Inclusion of  degree  marker  numbers  on  the  circumference of  the
  26.      printed circle
  27.      Ablity  for  users  to specify their  own  reference  locations  for
  28.      inclusion on the printed map
  29.      Ability to exclude reference locations from the printed map
  30.      Ability to  specify spacing of radial markers  in  both  degrees  and
  31.      kilometres on displayed and/or printed map
  32.      Ability to exclude radial markers from displayed and/or printed map
  33.      Requirement for about 20K more memory (enhancement??)
  34.  All work  was  done using  the author's  own  time  and  resources.  The
  35.  hardware  included  a  PC1 with  maths  co-processor and  colour graphics
  36.  adaptor, with 640K of RAM and 1 hard  disk.  The printer used was  a 4201
  37.  Proprinter.

  39.  The mathematics for distance and bearing calculations were taken directly
  40.  from the ARRL Antenna Book, 14th edition, page 16-4.
