  4.              Before discussing ELMER, here's some information about
  5.              expert systems. An expert system contains knowledge about a
  6.              particular field to assist human experts or provide
  7.              information to people who do not have access to an expert in
  8.              the particular field. It is an information system that can
  9.              pose and answer questions relating to information borrowed
  10.              from human experts and stored in the system's knowledge
  11.              base. Although they vary in design, most expert systems have
  12.              a user interface, a knowledge base, and an inference engine.
