  1. The programs in this subdirectory are CW programs, you may get more INFO
  2. by moving ahead into the directories CW_1, CW_2 etc.

  4. Codeless Technician License does not require Morse Code expertise.  In order
  5. to obtain more privileges in the amateur radio spectrum you will need to learn
  6. Morse Code.  Our past experience has shown that most people attempt to learn
  7. CW at the speed necessary to pass their next examination.  If you need to 
  8. pass a 5 WPM (words per minute) exam you will need to learn 7 WPM , likewise
  9. to pass 13 WPM you will need to learn 15 WPM, & 18 WPM requires you learn at
  10. 20 WPM.  What usually happens is that the individual learns code 3 times, first
  11. at 7 WPM then at 15 WPM, and finally at 20 WPM.  Because it is simpler to learn
  12. code once we strongly urge you to learn and practice your code at 20 WPM.  I 
  13. can see the foreheads frowning now!  20 WPM ??? YES!!! Study for 15 minutes a
  14. day and make it a steady practice.  You are not going to break any speed record
  15. when you do accomplish 20 WPM.  Most good fists are in the 20-35 WPM range.  
  16. By learning the first time to do 20 WPM you can sit down for your exams and 
  17. comfortably pass through all the code requirements.  You do not have to love CW 
  18. to learn CW! I in particular do not care for CW, however there are times that 
  19. CW is the best mode available and I have even tapped out information by mike
  20. button that was otherwise unreadable by voice.  You will understand later....
