  28. Willy the Spider is a completely new .mdl and the .qc code
  29. needed to drive him.  He is intended to be used in all your
  30. new single-player levels.
  31.  
  32. Note that this distribution is not intended as a stand-alone
  33. modification.  At least some knowledge of Quake editing is
  34. required.
  35.  
  36. How to Install the Modification
  37. -------------------------------

  39. Unzip "spider.zip" into your quake directory, taking care to
  40. retain the directory structure.
  41.  
  42. To include Willy in your new levels, simply place an entity
  43. with a classname of "monster_spider" into your map.  Note that
  44. the spider is fairly large and needs about the same amount of
  45. space as the shalrath.
  46.  
  47. In addition you must add "spider.qc" to your "progs.src" file
  48. and re-compile.  All required code is contained within "spider.qc"
  49. so it should mesh seamlessly with your own mods.

  51. Finally, please notify me if possible so that I may check out
  52. your level!

  54. For testing purposes I have included an edited version of 
  55. "e1m1.map" with the dogs replaced with spiders.  To use this,
  56. extract "maps/e1m1.bsp" from "quake/id1/pak0.pak" into
  57. "quake/id/spider/maps" and run QBSP as follows:

  59. qbsp -onlyents e1m1.map
  60.  
  61. then run "quake -game spider" and proceed to map e1m1.

  66. Willy the Spider was created from scratch using Lightwave3d,
  67. Fractal Design Painter, and several custom utilities.
