  1. Welcome to the Oracle Video Client! This component enables you to receive, decode, 
  2. and display streaming audio and video from the Oracle Video Server on your Windows 
  3. PC. You can also create your own applications using streaming audio and video. This 
  4. file describes how to install and configure the client on your machine.

  6. System Requirements

  8. * Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0
  9.  
  10. * At least a 80486 66MHz (or faster), with hardware MPEG decoding, or Pentium 90 MHz 
  11.   (or faster), with software MPEG decoding
  12.  
  13. * CD-ROM drive
  14.  
  15. * Display adapter card capable of at least 640x480 8-bit (256 colors) display
  16.  
  17. * VGA/SVGA monitor
  18.  
  19. * At least 32 MB RAM
  20.  
  21. * 28.8 Kbps or faster dial-up connection or direct network connection (32-bit TCP/IP 
  22.   with UDP and compatible Ethernet LAN card) to an Oracle Video Server

  24. Installing the Oracle Video Client
  25.  
  26. Note: If an earlier version of the Oracle Video Client is installed on your machine, 
  27. including 2.x versions or beta versions of 3.0, remove it before installing version
  28. 3.0.

  30. To install the Oracle Video Client on your machine:
  31.  
  32. 1. Insert the Oracle Video Client 3.0 CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
  33.  
  34. 2. From the Windows Start Menu, choose Run.
  35.  
  36. 3. If your CD-ROM is your D: drive, type the following command in the Open box:
  37.  
  38.        D:\SETUP.EXE
  39.  
  40.    If your CD-ROM drive uses another drive letter, substitute that in place 
  41.    of D: here.
  42.  
  43. 4. Read the instructions and respond to the questions presented by the installer.
  44.    When the installer requests a destination folder for the client, specify the 
  45.    folder in which your other Oracle products, if any, are installed. This is 
  46.    your ORACLE_HOME directory.

  48. 5. At the Setup Configuration screen, select one of the available installation 
  49.    configurations:

  67. Note: The installer installs the Oracle Video Web Plug-in (or makes it available as 
  68. a custom option) only if you have Netscape Navigator, Netscape Communicator, or 
  69. Internet Explorer already installed. If you have both Netscape and Microsoft browsers 
  70. installed, the plug-in is installed to both of them.

  72. The Oracle Video Client makes use of third-party software products. The installer 
  73. prompts you to install the following software products, if they are not already 
  74. installed on your system:

  95. Once the Oracle Video Client and third-party software is installed, the installer 
  96. displays the Setup Complete screen. Check the Display Oracle Video Client Readme 
  97. File check box to view Readme.txt, which contains late-breaking information not 
  98. in the documentation, the location of release notes, help, online documentation 
  99. files, and other useful references.
