- Welcome to NoLimits!
-
- This is the shareware demo version of NoLimits, realistic roller-
- coaster physics simulation. Nolimits includes two applications: the
- Simulator and the Track Editor. Both programs use OpenGL graphics
- drivers for real-time 3D rendering.
- The Simulator is optimized for smooth graphics with textures and
- effects. The Editor uses a simple, fast wire-frame display to let you
- create your own track designs.
-
- NOTE: The NoLimits Simulator requires an accelerated (3D) graphics
- card. It does not work properly with non-accelerated cards.
-
- Limitations of this Demo version:
-
- * Only 5 pre-made tracks
- * The simulator has a 20 min time limit
- * You can load the demo tracks only in the Simulator
- * You cannot save your layouts in the Track Editor
- * No Terraformer Utility
-
- For information on how to get the full version please visit

- System Requirements
- -------------------
- - 100% OpenGL-compatible graphics card with at least 8MB RAM
- Tested with the following chipsets: G400/G450/G550*, TNT2, GeForce1/2/3/4,
- Rage128*, Radeon*
- - 32-bit Windows (95b/98/Me/NT4.0/2000*/XP*)
- - 32MB RAM (64MB recommended)
- - DirectX 5 or newer
- - 586-family processor (Pentium 2 or better recommended)
- - 16bit sound card
-
- *Download and install the latest drivers from your graphics card's
- manufacturer website. In a lot of cases, the drivers that ship with the
- card or operating system are not compatible with this application
-
- If your system meets these requirements but NoLimits does not work properly,
- we recommend that you update your graphics card's drivers. (Be sure to
- uninstall the old ones first!) For details, see the website of your graphics
- card's manufacturer.
-
-
- Optimize it!
- ------------
- Your graphics card is the most important component for using NoLimits. If
- your framerates are too slow, consider a better graphics card instead of a
- faster processor. If your processor is over 500 MHz, upgrading it will not
- make a big difference. On the other hand, a new graphics card can boost your
- framerates by a factor of 2 or more.
- If you have framerates around 1 fps, this means that NoLimits cannot access
- your graphics card's acceleration features, and is resorting to software
- rendering. Updating your graphics drivers may solve this.
-
-
- Other Problems?
- ---------------
- If you have problems running NoLimits, send us the following information:
-
- (1) Your graphics card's brand, model, chipset, and driver version
- (2) Your processor type and speed
- (3) Your Windows version
- (4) Information about components in your computer (e.g. sound-cards)
- (5) A detailed desciption of the problem
- (6) A copy of the Log.txt and Logedit.txt files in your NoLimits folder.
- These files are created automatically when you run the programs. They
- contain information that may help us solve your problem.
-
- Send our problem report to support@nolimitscoaster.com
-
- Known-issues
- ------------
- Most bugs are caused by incompatibility between the software and the
- graphic card. Be sure to visit the website of your card's manufacturer
- and download and install the latest drivers for your card. The drivers
- included with Windows or that ship with the card are often outdated and do
- not work properly.
-
- Some graphic cards prevent applications from changing the resolution
- or color depth. If you immediately get an error message when you start
- NoLimits, try setting the desired resolution manually. (Right-click the
- Windows dektop; click Properties; then click the Settings tab.) In most
- cases a driver update will correct this behaviour.
-
- Some graphics cards have problems or crash when the Stencil Buffer
- (which improves real-time shadows) is enabled. Try switching it to
- Disabled (the default).
-
- Some cards have problems or crash when Flare Effects are enabled.
- If you see display irregularities when the sun appears in NoLimits, try
- setting Flare Effects to Disabled (the default is enabled).
-
- Some cards have problems or crash when GL-Extensions (which provide
- higher framerates) are enabled. If you see display irregularities on the
- rails or cars, try setting GL-Extensions to Disabled (the default).
- You should also disable GL-Extensions if your framerate is slower when
- it is enabled.
-
- Some graphic cards are incompatible with the Track Editor. For example,
- with some Kyro2-based cards you cannot select objects properly; with some
- ATI cards, the program crashes or freezes. Try starting the Editor in
- Software Mode to avoid buggy hardware-accelerated modes.
