The following is the listing of prices for the ZyXEL U1496 series. The U1496
has been truncated to save room. All prices are rounded to the nearest dollar.

PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION: Call around to some of the places and check about
their "extra" charges and personal warranties.  The lowest price does not
necessarily mean the lowest cost.  Some companies charge extra for credit card
usage and excessively for shipping.

NOTES 1:U1496+ is now called the S+. The U1496 (formerly the U1496S) has been
discontinued. 2:ZyVoice software for the Mac, Window and DOS. It uses the
voicemail capability for the ZyXEL modem and retails for $50. There is more
information at the end of this FAQ 3:I included a "feature chart" of various
U1496 models.  MANY thanks to THE QUESTOR PROJECT and Steve Pershing the

ZyVoice (WINDOWS)

* Traverses and supports up to 1000 voice/fax mailboxes.
* Auto detects between fax and voice calls and then routes is appropriately.
* Faxes up to 10 fax on demand documents.
* Provides privacy to all the mailbox users through the use of a password.
* Gives the caller the option to leave a message or fax in a single mailbox.
* Has extensive send/receive fax capabilities with broadcasting options.
* Changes greeting locally or remotely.
* Retrieves voice mail and receives or forwards faxes remotely.
* Views faxes and plays back messages locally.
* Prevents entry to the main program without the appropriate passwords.

ZyVoice (DOS)

* Supports and traverses through 1000 voice/fax data mailboxes through DTMF
  tones .
* Integrates data, fax and voice options: answering options are auto
  fax/voice/data, default fax/data, voice only, auto fax/data and data only.
* Sets alias voice mailbox.
* Transfers calls to other extensions.
* Branches to other mailboxes.
* Forwards voice calls or fax calls to you wherever you are located.
  It can even alert your pager so that you can set the time interval.
* Sets up for voice/fax/data on a single line. This can be done
  automatically without intervention by the user.
* Sets up the system mailbox and other features from a remote site
* Sets for distinctive rings.
* Utilizes Caller-ID function. This can log the number of the caller
  and the ring type when using the Distinctive Ring feature.
* Has a Terminate and Stay Resident (TSR) Caller-ID program that will
  pop up even when you are not currently in the VoiceFax Software.
  It will let you know who the caller is and display any notes that you
  have on a particular caller, This will give you the option of either
  picking up the call or letting it go through the voice mail.
* Gives the caller the option to attach data files to the message
  and do other basic functions of data transfers. The caller can either
  run the data package that comes with the software or other communication
  software through an external data program option.
