    Purpose: Mail.gender is a list created for the purpose of
    discussing gender issues.  The intent is to provide an open-minded
    forum for discussion of gender stereotypes vs. individuality,
    gender roles and particularly how people can get beyond these
    restrictions.  Any related topic is fair game: I won't presume
    to dictate the subject matter of the list, I want everyone on the
    list to do that.  Anonymous "posting" is available.

    Purpose: "gnu-manual" members are volunteers who write, proofread,
    and comment on documents for a GNU Emacs Lisp programmers' manual.

GodlyGraphics

    Purpose: The godlygraphics mailing list is for the discussion of
    Christian uses of computer graphics and animations, especially
    using the Amiga computer, and for related trading of ideas, objects,
    images, and even joint projects, such as the design of a Christian
    computer game.
    The possibilities for innovative uses of computer graphics,
    animations, multimedia applications and video productions in support
    of various Christian ministries and other endeavors are WIDE OPEN.
    What better use of your technical skills or creative talents than to
    serve the One who gave them to you?  Any interested or curious
    Christian is welcome to join.

    Purpose: A mailing list for Golden Retriever enthusiasts.  Suitable
    topics include questions and answers regarding the Golden Retriever
    breed in general, news bits, article summaries, discussions of
    particular lines and breeders, shows, activities (CCI, therapy dogs,
    guide dogs), show bragging, summaries of local GR club activities
    or newsletters, other items which might be too Golden-introverted
    for rec.pets.dogs, cooperation on a breed specific FAQ for r.p.d, etc.

GPS Digest

    Purpose: A forum for the discussion topics related to the USAF
    Global Positioning System (GPS) and other satellite navigation
    positioning systems.  The digest is moderated and is not presently

GRASS
    Contact: [e-mail]

    Purpose: The GRASS (Generic Religions and Secret Societies)
    mailing list is a forum for the development of religions and
    secret societies for use in role-playing games. Both real-world
    and fictional religions and secret societies are covered. GRASS is
    an erratic volume, high signal-to-noise, mailing list.

    To subscribe, send mail to the CONTACT address with a subject of
    SUBSCRIBE Charlie Bucket. (Use your own name instead of Charlie's
    though!)

grunge-l

    Purpose: This list is intended for the discussion of any and
    all topics related to the form of music known as "grunge rock"
    (not just Seattle-based or Sub Pop bands).  It is an open,
    unmoderated list with a frequently high level of traffic.

    As a general guideline, the following talk is encouraged:

    * Recording/concert reviews and recommendations.
    * Band tour dates.
    * Local scene reviews adn news.
    * Record store and mail-order company recommendations.
    * Nose-picking techniques.
    * Interviews and articles, original or otherwise.
    * Quotes, band gossip, and insider information.
    * Anything else one would typically find in a music magazine.

    People who find "adult language and references" offensive will
    not want to join this list.  It is also a good idea to read the
    grunge list with an extra dose of patience, perverse humor, and
    sarcasm.

    Purpose: To allow "alumni" (as defined by the GSPAA) of the
    Kentucky Governor's Scholars Program to participate in intellectual

    "community" fostered by GSP.  The list maintainer requests that
    only GSPeople request to join the list, and that when they do, they
    send at least 2 good Email addresses (if possible) and the year
    and campus at which they attended GSP.

    Purpose: Distributions of rumors, bugfixes and work-arounds
    concerning the CAD-Tool genesil and related tools to members of
    the Eurochip project and other interested parties.

Gunk'l'dunk

     Purpose : A forum for discussing and promoting _Tales_of_the_
    _Beanworld_, an unusual black and white comic published by Eclipse
    comics.  It is a moderated newsletter that occasionally receives
    input from the creator of the Beanworld, Larry Marder.

    Purpose: Low-bandwidth list for announcements relating to the
    Generic Universal Role Playing System from Steve Jackson Games.
    Announcements include the availability of playtest drafts of material,
    new products, and assorted occasional updates.

gurps-ext

    Purpose: General discussion of the Generic Universal Role Playing
    System from Steve Jackson Games.  All of the announcements are also
    sent to this list, so you don't need to be on both lists.

gymn

    Purpose: For the discussion of all aspects of gymnastics.

handicap
    Contact: [e-mail]

    Purpose: The Handicap Digest provides an information/discussion
    exchange for issues dealing with the physically/mentally
    handicapped.  Topics include, but are not limited to: medical,
    education, legal, technological aids and the handicapped in
    society.

    Note: The articles from the Handicap Digest are also posted in the
    Usenet Newsgroup, "misc.handicap".

hang-gliding

    Purpose: Topics covering all aspects of hang-gliding and ballooning,
    for ultra-light and lighter-than-air enthusiasts.

Harleys

    Purpose: Discussion and worship of Jimi Hendrix and his music.
    Although Jimi has been dead for about 2 decades, we feel that
    his music is still worthy to be recognized.  Prerequisite to
    joining: appreciation for his music.

Hindu Digest

    Purpose: Hindu dharma (religious philosophy and way of life) is
    followed by over 650 million people in the world.  Prominent among
    its teaching are the acceptance of various religious paths, and
    the spirit of universal family.

    The Hindu Digest is a forum to discuss various Hindu doctrines as
    they are applicable to day to day living.  We also discuss various
    issues that affect Hindu perspective, war and peace, human rights
    and participation of Hindus in political process to promote the
    universal ideals mentioneed above.  It is also a forum for cultural
    news about Hindus from around the world.

    Purpose: Hollosi Information Exchange.  There exists a mail server
    containing information about the Hungarian electronic resources,
    i.e. discussion lists, newsletters, etc.  Information is in Hungarian.

HOCKEY-L

    Purpose: HOCKEY-L is for the discussion of collegiate ice hockey,
    including scores, team info, schedules, etc., allowing fans to
    become more involved and knowledgeable about the game.

    Substantial information is available via HOCKEY-L subscription,
    including current year Division I team and composite schedules
    and scores, and other college and Olympic hockey information as
    assembled or created by the subscribers.  In-season postings
    include all Division I scores and descriptions of most games.
    Division II, III, and Club hockey discussions are welcome.

Holocaust Information

    Purpose: The Holocaust Information list is devoted to Holocaust
    research, and to the refutation of those who deny the event.  It
    is currently an unmoderated, public list, but I reserve the right
    to change status to private/moderated if the need arises.

    Topics within the scope of the list include: World-wide racial
    supremacy organizations and activities, world-wide neo-nazi
    organizations and activities, Holocaust denial via electronic
    networking, including but not limited to FidoNet, UseNet, InterNet,
    Prodigy, GEnie, CompuServe, etc., and the notification all list
    members when a new bulletin board, fax forwarding, or voice-mail
    organization is identified as representing the views of the
    various organizations noted above, including The Institute for

    Purpose: Forum on Beer, homebrewing, and related issues. Though
    mainly intended for discussion of beer making, also welcome are
    discussions on making cider, mead, wine, or any other fermented
    (but not distilled) beverage. Beginners are welcomed as well
    as experienced brewers.

    Purpose: This mailing list is for the discussion of all aspects
    and methods of home education.  These include the "unschooling"
    approach, curricula-based home-schooling, and others.  The list
    is currently unmoderated and welcomes everyone interested in
    educating their children at home, whatever the reasons.

home-ed-politics

    Purpose: Discussion of home education (typically by home
    educators) techniques and issues.  Many of the discussions are
    politically oriented (as in monitoring of government programs).

    Purpose: Discussion of things equestrian.  Horse enthusiasts of
    all disciplines and levels of experience are welcome.  Articles
    are distributed periodically in digest format, and also appear
    individually in the Usenet newsgroup "rec.equestrian".

hotrod

    Include on the Subject: line the keyword "subscribe" and a
    return path to your site.

    Purpose: The mailing list [e-mail] is chartered to provide
    a forum for people interested in high performance vehicles to
    exchange ideas and discuss topics of current interest.  This list
    is chartered as broadly as possible consistent with noise supression.
    Explicitly acceptable is any discussion regarding increasing the
    performance of any vehicle with more than three wheels.

HP Patch

    Purpose: This is the official announcement of the "HP Patch Descriptions
    Mailing List". In short, the purpose of the mailing list is this:

    1. If somebody receives a patch from HP, he/she can post the
    *description* of that patch to the mailing list.
    2. Other members now know that a patch exists and can ask HP for
    "patch xxxx" if they think they have a problem .
    3. The patches itself are *never* posted!!!!!!!!
    4. This list only exists as long as HP itself doesn't supply a list
    of available patches.

    generate proper return addresses.

    Problems, questions, suggestions and the like should go to this
    address too.  To ease searching for a patch to a specific problem,
    I've started to write a set of tools which I loosely call "pltools".
    Currently, there's one script (written in PERL) called plfind, that
    searches through an unofficial list of patch descriptions according
    to user supplied queries. Updates to this list and to the tools are
    posted on a semi-regular base. Also, each new member of the list
    receives the current distribution upon subscription.

huskers

    Purpose: this lists provides coverage of University of Nebraska
    sports.  The major in-season sports (football, basketball) will
    likely make up the majority of posts, but other sports are likely
    to be mentioned from time to time, depending on the interest.
    Other items likely to be of interest to NU alums or Cornhusker
    fans may also appear.

    Purpose: For informal product discussion and mutual assistance
    concerning AmigaVision, CanDo, DeluxeVideo III, Director 2,
    Foundation, Hyperbook, InterActor, PILOT, ShowMaker, TACL,
    Thinker, and VIVA.

    give a one-line message asking "subscribe hyperami."

    This list is separate from the Usenet newsgroup comp.sys.amiaga.
    multimedia but material from the list may occasionally be posted
    to the newsgroup.

    where you substitute your own values for the <> delimited items
    (include the period at the end of the line).

    Subject: Add <firstname-lastname> '<' <user>@<domain> '>' to
    <mail-list-name-without-domain>.
    For example: Subject: Add Joe Smith <[e-mail]> to hyperbole.

    Purpose: Hyperbole is for discussion of the Hyperbole systems and the
    related topics of hypertext and information retrieval.

    Hyperbole-announce announces new releases and bug fixes for
    Hyperbole.  Anyone on hyperbole is automatically subscribed to
    hyperbole-announce., so you should request subscription to only
    one of the two lists.

    Hyperbole is a flexible hypertext manager developed at Brown
    University that sits atop of GNU Emacs and provides efficient
    point-and-click information access and full customizability in GNU
    Emacs Lisp.  Hyperbole allows hypertext buttons to be embedded within
    unstructured and structured files, mail messages and news articles.
    It also provides point-and-click access to ftp archives, Wide Area
    Information Servers (WAIS), and the World-Wide Web (WWW) hypertext
    system.

hyperchem

    Purpose: The group is designed for, but not limited to, HyperChem
    users.  Any and all scientific and technical issues related to the use
    of HyperChem are appropriate for discussion on this group.

    The group is unmoderated, so that any message sent to the group is
    sent automatically to all other members of the group.  Any information
    on this group is to be taken "as is" without representation or warranty
    of any kind, either express or implied.  The entire risk as to the use
    of this information is assumed by the user.

IAMS (Internet Amateur Mathematics Society)

    Purpose: For discussion of math puzzle and problems.

IB

    Purpose: To provice a forum for teachers, IB coordinators and
    administrators involved wtih the International Baccalaureate
    Diploma Program.  Discussion of all aspects of the IB program
    is welcome.

IBDlist

    Purpose: IBDlist is a moderated mailing list which discusses all
    aspects of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, with particular emphasis
    on Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis.  Anyone with an
    interest in these diseases, whether direct or indirect is welcome.
    This list will also act as a clearinghouse for information and
    discussion of current treatments, research, and other information
    related to IBDs.  This list is open to any interested party and is
    not restricted to those with a direct link to IBD.

ICI

    Purpose: Discussion of Tim Long's ICI language and its interpreter.
    Also acts as an archive for the interpreter source, patches and
    documentation.

iclinfo

    Purpose: To update and relay information regarding the CCI/ICL
    processors.  Including information on product updates, product
    problems, service problems and information, system options, and
    information on CCI/ICL from "off-line" sources.....(i.e. Inside
    "scoops" direct from "hidden" CCI/ICL sources.

IDOL
    Contact: [e-mail] (David Talmage)

    Purpose: The idol-group is an unmoderated mailing list for people
    interested in the Idol language.  Idol, an "Icon-derived object
    language," is "an object-oriented extension and environment for
    the Icon programming language." The idol-group is a forum for
    discussing Idol programming, object-oriented programming, and Idol
    implementation issues.  It is also a place to exchange Idol
    classes and programs, contributing to the library of useful Idol
    code.

Igor

    Purpose: To provide an easy means for users of Igor to share
    problems and solutions, as well as for potential users to seek
    opinions on the utility and performance of the application.

Imagine
    Contact: [e-mail] (Dave Wickard)

    Purpose: The IML is dedicated to the 3D computer rendering
    package "Imagine" by Impulse Inc. Currently this package is
    available on the Amiga computer and for MS-DOS.  Subject matter
    spans most areas and packages in 3D rendering, but mostly in
    comparison to Imagine.  There are many professional artists
    using the IML, and the tone is light and friendly.  All levels
    of knowledge and experience are welcome here and everyone is
    encouraged to participate.  We have held contests, and a frequently
    asked questions list and full archives since the Lists inception
    in January 1991 are available upon request.  Merely send a note to
    the above address with the word "subscribe" in the subject line.

    NOTE: BANG STYLE addressing is not supported, so please include
    your Internet-style address in subscription request
    (e.g. [e-mail]).

immune
    Contact: [e-mail] (Cyndi Norman)

    Purpose: A support group for people with immune-system breakdowns
    (and their symptoms) such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Lupus,
    Candida, Hypoglycemia, Multiple Allergies, Learning Disabilities,
    etc, and their SO's, medical caretakers, etc.  The group is
    unmoderated and open to anyone anywhere in the world (no arguments
    about whether or not these disabilities exist).

improv

    Purpose: Questions, comments, and bug-reports relating to the
    Improv spreadsheet for NeXTSTEP and Windows, published by Lotus
    Corp.  Some mail includes attachments that may be read with mail
    readers compatible with the NexT Computer's NeXTmail format.

    Purpose: A low-volume list for users of the LPC Mpulse line of
    computers.  The moderator does filter and journalize submissions.

indigo-girls
    Contact: [e-mail] (Stephen Spencer)

    Purpose: discussion of Indigo Girls and related artists' music, tour
    dates, concert reviews, etc.  Both "regular" and "digest" formats are
    available -- please specify when sending a "subscribe me" message.
    "digest" format gets you one message a day, "regular" gets you each
    message as it is sent to the list.

info-aids
    Contact: [e-mail]
         {pacbell,apple,hoptoad,ucbvax}!well!rainbow!info-aids  (Ken Davis)

    Purpose: to act as a clearinghouse for information, and discussion
    about AIDS, including alternative treatments, political
    implications, etc.   Exchanges files with [e-mail].
    Open to anyone with the time and inclination to participate.
    Mailing list will be confidential and known only to the members.
    Anonymous postings will be accepted.  (See also "aids" mailing list)

info-ccc
    Contact: uunet!xurilka!info-ccc-request (Luigi Perrotta)

    Purpose: The info-ccc mailing list will be devoted to the
    Concurrent C and Concurrent C++ programming languages.  However,
    discussions can be anything relevant to concurrent programming.

INFOCD
    Contact: [e-mail] (Michael Pawka)

    Purpose: The INFOCD mailing list is for the exchange of subjective
    comments about the Compact Audio Disc medium and related hardware.
    Topics of discussion may include CD reviews, players, portables,
    import CD's, etc. Occasionally the threads even drift off onto lyrics,
    video discs, etc.

info-encore

    Purpose: Mailing list for discussion of issues involving hardware
    and software issues of Encore computers and ethernet terminal
    servers.

    This mailing list is also gatewayed into the inet list,
    comp.sys.encore

info-fortune

    Purpose: This mailing list is for users of UNIX based
    microcomputers produced by Fortune Systems. Any subject pertaining
    to Fortune computers is allowed.

info-gnu
    Contact: [e-mail]
             ucbvax!prep.ai.mit.edu!info-gnu-request

    Purpose: to distribute progress reports on the GNU Project, headed
    by Richard Stallman, and to ask members for various kinds of help.
    The list is gated both ways with the alternative newsgroup
    "gnu.announce," and is filtered (weakly moderated) by Leonard H.
    Tower Jr.  GNU, which stands for Gnu's Not Unix, is the name for a
    complete Unix-compatible software system whose sources can be given
    away free to everyone.  Major parts have already been written;
    major parts still remain undone.  Project GNU has additional
    mailing lists to distribute information about specific GNU
    programs, and to report bugs in them.  Contact us at the above

info-high-audio

    Purpose: This list is for the exchange of subjective comments about
    high end audio equipment and modifications performed to high end
    pieces.  Techniques used to modify equipment, especially, but not
    limited to, vacuum tube electronics are exchanged. Some comments
    may be subjective or intuitive and may not yet have a measurable
    basis. Other topics of discussion include turntables, arms and
    cartridges; preamplifiers, headamps and cartridge matching;
    speakers, amplifiers and matching; placement of speakers, and room
    treatments. Any comments that prevent an open exchange of ideas and
    techniques are not encouraged.

    Archives of projects will be maintained on csd4.csd.uwm.edu and
    available via anonymous ftp.  Info-High-Audio is bi-directionally
    gatewayed with the USENET newsgroup rec.audio.high-end.

    Atari, Amiga, and other platforms.  Mirror of alt.security.pgp and
    related articles on sci.crypt.

info-prime

    Purpose: INFO-PRIME is the discussion group/mailing list for users
    and administrators of Prime Computer equipment: 50-series (PRIMOS)
    and EXL series (Unix).  This mailing list is gatewayed to the Usenet
    newsgroup comp.sys.prime.

informix-list
    Contact: [e-mail]  (Walt Hultgren)

    Purpose: An unmoderated list for the discussion of Informix
    software and related subjects.  Topics include all Informix
    offerings, from C-ISAM to WingZ, plus third-party products.
    Membership is open to anyone, including end-users, vendors and
    employees of Informix Software, Inc.  An optional gateway service
    of Informix-related articles from comp.databases is offered.  Not
    affiliated with Informix Software, Inc.

informix_sig_nca

    Purpose: This is the mailing list for the INFORMIX User Group of
    Northern California.  The purpose of this mailing list is two fold.
    It is the voice for the INFORMIX User Group of Northern California.
    Also, it is a method of information exchange for users of Informix
    products.  Group activities will be advertised in this mailing list
    and posted to comp.databases.informix.

List-Managers

    Purpose: There was a "Mailing Lists" workshop session at the
    USENIX System Administration Conference (LISA VI) in Long Beach,
    CA, on October 22, 1992.  The participants in that workshop
    expressed a desire for a mailing list for discussions of issues
    related to managing Internet mailing lists, including (but not
    limited to) software, methods, mechanisms, techniques, and
    policies.

    I've created the list as "[e-mail]".
    That address is a direct mail relector: all messages sent to
    that address are immediately forwarded to the list.  There is a
    digestified version of the list available as "List-Managers-
    [e-mail]".  The digestified version has exactly
    the same messages as the direct version; the messages are
    simply bundled into digests daily (or more frequently, if
    traffic warrants).  Both lists are unmoderated.

    To join the List-Mangers mailing list, send the command

    in the body of a message to "[e-mail]".  If
    you want to subscribe something other than the account the
    mail is coming from, such a a local redistribution list, then

    constructed human language called Lojban (known in earlier

    as a medium for communication with computers, and as a possible
    international auxiliary language.

    Lojban-list is an unmoderated mail reflector.  New subscribers are
    asked to send their postal mailing addresses as well, so that they
    can be placed on the mailing list of The Logical Language Group,
    Inc., a non-profit organization.  The postal mailing list provides
    materials that are useful in learning about the language.
    Lojban-list and LLG, Inc. are in no way affiliated with The Loglan
