  11. --- PROJECT-X SPECIAL EDITION Hard Disk Installer ---

  13. This installer requires the ORIGINAL disks from Project-X SE 93 (there are 3).
  14. It should NOT work for cracked versions or the first release of Project-X.
  15.  
  16. The HD-Patched game will need about 4Mb of memory.
  17. It should work on ALL Kickstarts and ALL CPUs (up to '060).
  18. Report me any bugs you'll find.
  19.  
  20. Note: I created and tested this package with a A1200/060/50 16Mb, so there should
  21. be no problems for all 680x0 CPUs (caches,chipset...). It degrades display properly
  22. so Multiscan users won't have any sprite or screen problem.
  23. All my installers are now fixed for A3000/A4000 users (thanks Robert :-) )

  25. When the disks are copied during installation, the pointer freezes. That's
  26. normal cause the game uses a custom trackload routine (copy-protection), and
  27. it does not easily multitask. No checks are done to see if you swapped the disks
  28. or not.

  30. FEATURES:

  32. - Full HD Install of the game
  33. - Installer script provided, for more convenience
  34. - Full use of fast memory
  35. - You can access all the 5 levels at once. The choice is not limited to levels 1,2,3.
  36. - Fully 680x0 compatible without modifications (there were crashes with 68060)
  37. - A TRAINER tooltype allows you to get infinite lives.
  38. - Load/Save Hi-Scores now work with hard drive. No need for floppy
  39. - F10 key allows you to quit the game from the main menu.

  41. BUGS:
  42.  
  43. There are some annoying bugs I did not succeed to remove yet:
  44.  
  45. - You have to load the high scores by the LOAD SCORES option. This is not done at startup.
  46. - Do NOT use a copyback disk cache on your games partition. This could be harmful if you reboot
  47.   the computer before you quit the game, if you use the SAVE SCORES option (disk buffers not
  48.   updated). Anyway, if you are afraid, you can still use floppies to save your games if you
  49.   set the NOOSSWAP tooltype/argument.
  50. - Sometimes the game asks for disk 2 or disk 3, or refuses to work without the NOOSSWAP
  51.   tooltype. In that case, switch off and on your amiga and it will work again
  52.   (a Blizzard 12x0 problem ?)

  55. CHANGES SINCE V2.1:

  57. - The crash at level 1 when you played after level 3,4,5 is removed, there were a cache setting
  58.   problem in my hd-utility object code for the 68060.

  61. I think the patch is pretty complete now.

  64. If you find some other bugs, or the game crashes, please e-mail me (specify your
  65. configuration).
  66. I'm also looking for people who could send me original disks for me to patch them
  67. for 680x0 or write HD-Installers (NO WAY FOR CRACKED VERSIONS).
  68. I'd like someone to send me the original release of Project-X. It would be great if my
  69. installer supported both versions.

  82. This patch can be distributed freely, but I'd appreciate that you drop me a line
  83. if you include it in a coverdisk or PD collection.

  85. However, FFD (France Festival Distribution) is not allowed to include it in any
  86. of its PD disks (if you read usenet in fr.comp.sys.amiga, you'll know why).
  87. It's the only exception for the distribution.
