  9. --- MORTAL KOMBAT Hard Disk Installer ---

  11. This installer requires the ORIGINAL disks from Mortal Kombat (there are 2).
  12. The HD-Patched game will need about 2Mb of FAST memory and 1 or 2Mb more
  13. for the game itself, which makes 3Mb a minimum, but (almost) any HD owner
  14. has got 3Mb. You also need 1MB of chipmem to run the game.

  16. Sorry but this game does not like 32bit fastmem AT ALL. If you need a 512K chip version,
  17. just let me know.

  19. It should work on ALL Kickstarts and ALL CPUs.
  20. Report me any bugs you'll find.

  22. When the disks are copied during installation, the pointer freezes. That's
  23. normal cause the game uses a custom trackload routine (copy-protection), and
  24. it does not easily multitask. No checks are done to see if you swapped the disks
  25. or not (the disk structure is very similar between the 2 disks).

  27. HISTORY:

  29. V1.0: This version did not take advantage of the allowed cpu caches
  30. properly and did not disable specific '060 caches. Besides, it sometimes exited
  31. with no reason, without doing anything, or loaded and locked up.
  32. There were graphics corruption for one of the players.
  33.  
  34. V1.1: Bugs were corrected except for the gfx corruption
  35.  
  36. V1.2: The gfx bug was finally removed. Works (almost) perfectly :-)
  37. I added a small guide for special moves and fatalities.
  38.  
  39. V1.3: Startup code improvement. Crashes less often.
  40.  
  41. V1.4: New memory management. F10 quits the game at any time. Needs 1MB of chipmem.
  42. I think it's the final version.

  44. V1.4a: I was wrong when I thought it was the final version. It simply did not work.
  45. I re-linked it with my new startup code, and made a few modifications, and now it
  46. works perfectly. Sorry for V1.4 users.
  47. I also changed the installation system. Now it uses a command I wrote (rob2file) and
  48. an installer script. Much more flexible and user-friendly.

  50. CHEATMODE:

  52. Type CATHULU in the menu to get a cheat mode menu.

  61. This patch can be distributed freely, but I'd appreciate that you drop me a line
  62. if you include it in a coverdisk or PD collection.

  64. However, FFD (France Festival Distribution) is not allowed to include it in any
  65. of its PD disks (if you read usenet in fr.comp.sys.amiga, you'll know why).
  66. It's the only exception for the distribution.
