\paperw8640 \margr0\margl0\ATXph0 \plain \fs20 \f1 Cyberia first came into prominence as a result of a chain of 'cyber cafes' in the UK. It was set up with minimum investment b
y 32-year-old Eva Pasco, her 29-year-old student friend Gene Teare and Gene's husband Keith. The trio won the \i Sunday Times\i0 /British Telecom 'Towards The Superhighway Awards' for 1995. \par

Channel Cyberia was then developed to achieve high W
eb visibility. It's a very Microsoft-friendly site, using much of Microsoft's advanced server software and looking at its best under Microsoft Internet Explorer. \par
\par
The idea is that you go to Cyberia, start at \ATXul1033 \cf9 \ATXht7 http://channel.cyberiacafe.net/ \ATXul0 \cf0 \ATXht0 and
choose from a schedule of programmes, each available at certain times on specific days of the week. \par
\par
This is a big site, with input from over 40 content providers. It's free, so, as you'd expect, the content is heavily commercial and generous
ly laced with advertising and business links. \par

If you can't get to your PC when a particular show is on, fret not; each programme is archived after screening and so remains available for viewing. Although Cyberia's notes say it's all available
'indefinitely', I wouldn't bank on finding 1997's programmes when you tune in with Internet Explorer in 2001.
