  4. INSTALLATION:
  5. ************
  6. Before  MinuteMan Data Backup will run, you must install the VB5run kit,
  7. either included with this download, or download at:
  8. http://www.mslm.com/minman.htm
  9. The shareware version does have the VB5run included in the download.
  10. Most Win98 have the VB5run already included with the Win98 installation.

  12. Unzip and place minman.zip into a temporary folder, double click 
  13. Setup.exe,  and select the desired drive and path. Then click the
  14. Install button.
  15.  
  16. MinuteMan Data Backup does not make any modifications or entries to the 
  17. W95/98/NT Registry,  nor  to any W95/98/NT System files. It will simply make
  18. the new MinuteMan Data Backup directories, and copy the necessary  files into
  19. the appropriate directories, while adding a MinuteMan Shortcut to  the Start menu.
  20. Shareware Pkunzip.exe by Pkware is copied to the root directory C when you
  21. install MinuteMan if one doesn't exist. Licensed Pkunzip.exe distributed to 
  22. registered customers.

  25. Setup troubleshooting:

  27. If you have problems installing  MinuteMan Data Backup, that
  28. may happen because you  don't have some of the DLLs up to
  29. date, download and install  the VB5run2 with the OCX update.
  30. You may need to reinstall the VB5run twice.

  34. If you have a command line in the Autoexec.bat  to  delete 
  35. W95/98/NT temporary files in the C:\Windows\Temp upon startup then 
  36. when installing the VB5run update, it will not take affect if it prompts
  37. you to restart computer because the computer DLLs are out dated.
  38. Remove the line from the Autoexec.bat when you are installing 
  39. programs that requires a reboot.

  41. It is recommended to empty the Windows\Temp folder and Windows\Recent
  42. if you selected to install from the Zip file.

  47. If MinuteMan is installed in a none English W95/98/NT, it
  48. should make all shortcuts to the Startup Folder and Start Menu, if it didn't
  49. then there is something wrong with the installation.

  51. REINSTALL:

  53. Available only with the registered version.
  54. When reinstalling, don't delete the previous {older} MinuteMan directory,
  55. nor the MinuteMan.exe. Merely selecting the "Reinstall" command, 
  56. it will update and replace all files and recreate any missing folders, while 
  57. keeping your previous {old} configuration safely intact.
  58. Take care  to see that the correct path to the previous installation is shown
  59. in the path window

  65. To uninstall the full version, go to the Control Panel\Add Remove
  66. Programs, scroll down to MinMan and click the Add\Remove button.

  70. To remove {uninstall} MinuteMan correctly, simply delete
  71. the entire  MinuteMan directory.
  72. And if they exist, delete the shortcuts found in
  73. C:\Windows\Startmenu\Programs, and n
  74. C:\Windows\Startmenu\Programs\Startup\MinuteChild.lnk

  76. It is recommended to keep the VB5run update because it will work with 
  77. other VB 5.0 applications that call for it. But if for some reason you 
  78. need to remove it, go to the Control Panel\Add Remove Programs 
  79. and select to uninstall the VB5run2 update.

  83. In order to be able to backup more than 14 backups available, you can
  84. install MinuteMan in more than one directory and have more
  85. instances of MinuteMan, rename Shortcuts in the Start Menu and the
  86. Startup Folders, but can't use Timed or Startup backups on all of them.

  90. MinuteMan most features gets disabled after 30 runs, the Restore
  91. section stays functional.
