  22. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  24. If you are installing this driver to update a currently installed Dataproducts 
  25. P/S printer driver please make sure to delete DP*.WPD files from your 
  26. \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.
  27.  
  28. 1.  Start Windows 3.1.
  29.  
  30. 2.  Choose Control Panel from the Main Group in Program Manager.
  31.     The Control Panel window appears.
  32.  
  33. 3.  Choose the Printers icon from the Control Panel window.
  34.     The Printers dialog box appears.
  35.  
  36. 4.  Choose the Add >> button.
  37.  
  38. 5.  From the List of Printers: dialog box, select the Install Unlisted
  39.     or Updated Printer.
  40.  
  41. 6.  Choose Install.
  42.  
  43. 7.  Insert the Printer Utilities Disk containing the P/S printer driver for 
  44.     Windows 3.1
  45.  
  46. 8.  Enter the driver letter of the disk 
  47.  
  48. 9.  Choose OK.
  49.  
  50. 10. Highlight "Dataproducts LZR 2080" and click OK.  Windows may request
  51.     that you insert one of the Windows Installation disks, if so, follow
  52.     the instructions on the screen.
  53.  
  54. 11. To make this printer as your default printer now double click on the
  55.     printer name in the "installed printers" list box. To change any of the
  56.     default settings on the printer, click on "Setup", then "Options" and
  57.     then "Advanced".  Make sure to click "OK" every time you need to close
  58.     any of the setup windows.
  59.  
  60. 12. The printer driver defaults to LPT1.  To change the connection
  61.     select the Connect button.
  62.  
  63. 13. Click the Close button.
  64.  
  65.     Your Dataproducts "Postscript Printer" driver is now installed.
  66.  
  67. If you have any difficulties, refer to the Windows 3.1 User's Guide
  68. Chapter 6, Print Manager for information about installing printer drivers.

  72. USER HINTS
  73. ==========
  74. If you have any difficulties during installation of this drivers, refer to 
  75. Chapter 6 (Print Manager) in the Windows 3.1 User's Guide for information 
  76. about installing printer drivers.

  79. KNOWN LIMITATIONS
  80. =================
  81. 1. Mixed orientation mode printing from the same bin has unpredictable results.
  82.  
  83. 2. Mixed bin printing from two bins of the same size or different page
  84.    orientations has unpredictable results.
  85.  
  86. 3. When printing an EPS file in landscape mode the EPS file may image 180
  87.    degrees relative to the application's image. This can be corrected by 
  88.    editing the WIN.INI file.  (Note: before making any changes to your WIN.INI 
  89.    file make a backup copy first.)
  90.    - Using the Notepad editor or any other text editor of your choice, open
  91.    WIN.INI file which exists in your Windows directory.
  92.    - Search for the name of whichever printer you have installed until you find
  93.    the line that states the printer name and the port it is assigned to 
  94.    (example:   [Dataproducts LZR 2080, LPT1] ).
  95.    - Add the statement "landscapeorient=270" to the [specific printer, port]
  96.    section. Now insert "landscapeorient=270" below the last line of the group.
  97.    - Add one blank line and save the WIN.INI file.
  98.  
  99. 4. Corel Draw V2.0 will work with this driver successfully, only if you 
  100.    introduce the driver in CORELDRW.INI file in your Corel directory. Open 
  101.    CORELDRW.INI file using Notepad, or Write, and then under [coreldrivers] add a line:
  102.         DPCPS=1
  103.  
  104.  
  105. 5- When using Manual Feed operation for A4 is SEF ( Short Edge Feed), and 
  106.    for Letter paper size is LEF ( long Edge Feed) only.
  107.  
  108. 6- Although some paper sizes may not be available for some specific paper
  109.    source selection (i.e. A3 or Ledger) for the MultiMedia Power Feeder, the 
  110.    complete list of paper sizes is displayed for all paper sources in 
  111.    Printer Setup.  
  112.  
  113. 7- When a new paper source is selected in the Printer Setup Dialog box, the
  114.    selected paper size switches to the default selection ( Letter).
  115.  
  116. 8- B5 paper size can be used only with the Cassette or Manual feed.
  117.  
  118. 9- Applications with Printer Setup for paper size as seen in MS-Write, 
  119.     Paintbrush, Notepad, and CorelDraw! v3.0 will not have SEF LETTER or 
  120.     A4 paper size available.
