- This program is named after my wife. When I asked her what she
- would call something that she used to keep track of information
- about certain items, she said "Susie".

- Type "GO" at the DOS prompt and press ENTER to invoke the program.
- Do not attempt to run PRUN.EXE.
- The first time the program is executed, it will build the
- data files which are used to store the data.

- ----------------------- OVERVIEW -------------------------------
-
- Software Susie is designed to keep track of all the
- expensive computer software one acquires, either through
- shareware or commercial means.
- It will keep track of the following information:
- 1. Software name or title
- 2. Publisher or manufacturer
- 3. Publisher's address and phone, including BBS phone
- 4. Vendor purchased from
- 5. Shareware or commercial
- 6. Copy protected or not
- 7. Date purchased
- 8. Cost
- 9. Category, (spreadsheet, database, etc.)
- 10. Version

- There are three reports which can be printed on your printer.
- 1. Complete listing by title
- 2. Listing of publishers
- 3. Listing of categories
- These reports are printed immediately upon choosing them
- from the main menu.
- All items on the main menu can be chosen either by
- highlighting the item with the cursor and pressing ENTER,
- or by pressing the corresponding number and then pressing
- ENTER.

- MAIN MENU OPTIONS
-

- 1. UPDATE OR ADD SOFTWARE TITLES
-
- If no titles exist in the database, you will be presented with
- a form for input of new titles.
- While using this form, when you come to the field to input a
- publisher's name, you will be presented with a table of existing
- names from which to choose if you press enter, or enter a name
- which does not exist in the table.
- If no publisher names exist, you will be presented with a form
- to add a new publisher name. The same is true for the category
- field.
- If titles exist in the database, you will be presented with a
- table showing the title, version, and category of each title.
- You may highlite a title and press ENTER to see more information
- about it, and/or make changes to it.
- To add a new title, press the INSERT key. You will be presented
- with the form for input of new titles. This is the same form
- used to make changes to existing titles.
- While viewing the table of titles, press ESCAPE to return to the
- main menu. To delete a record, highlite the record with the
- cursor and press the DELETE key. You will be asked to confirm
- the deletion of the record.

- To add a new code, press the INSERT key. You will be presented
- with the form for input of new codes. This is the same form
- used to make changes to existing codes.
- While viewing the table of codes, press ESCAPE to return to the
- main menu. To delete a record, highlite the record with the
- cursor and press the DELETE key. You will be asked to confirm
- the deletion of the record.

- 4. REPORT BY TITLE

- When you choose this option, the report will be printed
- immediately on your printer, so be sure it is ready to go
- before pressing ENTER to select this option.
- This report will print all fields in each record in the
- database. There will be two lines printed for each record in
- order to print each field in normal mode.

- 5. REPORT BY PUBLISHER
-
- This report prints only the information about the publisher.
- When you choose this option, the report will be printed
- immediately on your printer, so be sure it is ready to go
- before pressing ENTER to select this option.
- This report will print all fields in each record in the
- database. There will be two lines printed for each record in
- order to print each field in normal mode.

- 6. REPORT BY CATEGORY

- This report prints only the category code and description.
- When you choose this option, the report will be printed
- immediately on your printer, so be sure it is ready to go
- before pressing ENTER to select this option.
- This report will print all fields in each record in the
- database.

- 7. QUIT
-
- Choose this option to end the program and return to DOS.
