-
-
- HOW TO GET STARTED ...
-
- Type MYLABEL at the DOS prompt and press <Enter>, you're up and running!
-
- MOVING AROUND THE SCREEN ...
-
- The cursor moves freely about the 99 INDEX and LABEL positions by using the
- cursor keys, Please take a moment to try them, they are:
-
-
- --------------------
- The cursor pad >>>>> | Home | Up | PgUp |
- |------------------|
- | Left | | Right|
- |------------------|
- | End |Down| PgDn | Num Lock should be toggled
- -------------------- off!
-
-
-
- ENTERING YOUR LABELS ...
-
- The middle portion of your screen gives you a view to any 3 of 99 available
- labels. Position the cursor and type. What you see is what you get.
- Three special ALT commands are listed on the bottom of the LABELS window.
- Use them by pressing ALT and the corresponding letter keys simultaneously.
-
- For example, to erase the current label, press the ALT and E keys. Other
- commands let you center and copy. All ALT commands affect the current
- label which is the label containing the cursor.
-
- The top line on each label gives you space to type a name. This is not
- required but helps to keep your labels organized. The date, which also
- appears on the top line, indicates the date the label was either created
- or last edited. You can edit the date by merely typing over it.
-
-
-
- USE THE INDEX TO FIND YOUR LABELS ...
-
- The left hand portion of your screen contains the INDEX. It is a list of
- the Names of each of your labels. Use the INDEX to find and display any
- label. Indexes to blank labels are dashed lines. To use the INDEX press the
- <left arrow> cursor key until you push it into the INDEX window.
- The nearest 3 indexes will be highlighted and the cursor disappears. Move
- through it by pressing the cursor keys. All cursor keys respond intuitively.
- Should you wish to display a label named SHIPPING, highlight SHIPPING and
- press <Enter>. The label will appear in the LABEL window. To exit the
- INDEX, press the <right arrow> cursor key.

-
- FUNCTION KEYS ... PUT YOU IN CONTROL ...
-
- The function keys are located on the right hand portion of the screen. To
- access a function just press the associated function key, they are:
-
- F2 SAVE ... Saves your labels to disk.
-
- F3 PRINT ... Type the labels to print, quantity, labels across and
- the left margin. It is not necessary to type in all of the above
- if they are already correct. Press <F10> to begin printing.
-
- F4 SIZE OF LABEL ... Select the label size from the list of available
- formats. Use the up/down cursor key to move the cursor to
- the size desired, then press <Enter>. If you selected "custom" the
- custom size window will appear. Type in the number of text lines,
- columns and total lines.
-
- Each time you change the label size the label margins will
- automatically re-adjust.
-
- F5 LABEL COUNTER ... Great for serial numbers! Type the Start and
- Interval numbers. The Interval adds cummulatively to the Start
- each time the label is printed. For instance, if Start is 3000 with
- an Interval of 2 the label counter would print 3000, 3002, 3004, 3006
- and so on until it was finished printing.
-
- The counter replaces the "#" symbols typed in your labels.
- Only the rightmost numbers print if there are not enough "#"
- symbols to fit the entire counter. Think about your car's odometer,
- when 99999 miles is reached the next number is 00000. You can have
- as many counting fields as you want.
-
- A serial number label might look like this:
- |------------------------------|
- | Serial no. #### |
- | |
- |------------------------------|
-
-
-
- F6 SAVE & QUIT ... Saves your labels to disk and returns you to the
- operating system.
-
- NOTE: your label data is stored on the same disk, or if you are using a
- hard disk, the same subdirectory. The filename is MYLABEL.DAT.

- HELPFUL HINTS ...
-
- 1 MySoftware Co. authorizes you to make backup copies for archival
- purposes only. To do so copy all the files from the original
- diskette to a blank, formatted diskette. Hard Disk users ...
- Copy all the files from the original disk to a Hard Disk subdirectory.
- Please consult your DOS manual if any of this is new to you.
-
- 2 Make a supply of shipping labels by running your blank shipping labels
- through your printer twice: first, to imprint your name and address,
- second, to imprint the cutomers to whom you most frequently ship.
-
- 3 Custom Sized Labels ... If you print more than 1 custom label across
- they will print without any gap between labels. This feature is
- helpful if you need to print a label which is wider than 40 characters.
-
- 4 Use the ALT X Copy command to make sets of similar labels. If you copy
- a label, all the label data, except date, will be copied. This includes
- the size of the label.
-
- 5 If you need to reshuffle your label data base use the ALT X Copy and
- ALT E Erase Commands.
-
- 6 Print these instructions by pressing <F10>. Please do it now.
-
-
- TROUBLE SPOTS ... HOW TO AVOID THEM
-
- 1 Printer does not respond ... First, make sure it does respond to
- <Shift><PrtSc>. If it does then check to see if you have selected
- the correct labels to print. Reason being if you select a label that
- has no name and no text it will not print.
-
- 2 Printer wraps text to next line ... This will occur when you print
- more labels across than your printer has the capability to print. For
- example, choosing 3.5x15/16" labels, 3 across, will exceed the carriage
- width of an 80 column printer.
-
- 3 Printer inserts blank lines every other line ... Set you printer to
- NOT insert a carriage return after every line. This can usually be done
- be turning the printer off and on. Should that fail consult your
- printer manual to locate the switch which turns the AUTO CARRIAGE RETURN
- off.
-
- 4 Laser Printer Users ... Set your printer to 66 lines per page. It is
- sometimes necessary to turn your priner off and on.
-
-
-
