This is @ the filter that was entered from the SETUP menu. @[SETUP] (Menu) This is where reports are attached and the @ output device is selected. @ @ @ EXECUTING A REPORT @ @Press any key to pause a report during its execution. Data is @ generated for each diskette in the catalog. @ It includes the diskette name, code, date, @ number of files, space used and available, @ comment and a list of its files. The file @ list may contain the file size and date and @ time of creation. @ @ Xref (.XRF) - This is a files cross reference report. It @ generates data pertinent to each file in the @ catalog. Its main purpose is to identify @ all diskettes containing a specified file. @ @ Label (.LBL) - This Structure file creates a diskette label.@ It is logically the same as a diskette report@ for a single diskette. @ @ CREATING OR MODIFYING A STRUCTURE FILE @ @To create a new report, first [ASSIGN] it a name and type. To @modify an existing report, select [Load] and choose the report @to be modified. @ @Design or modify the report by filling in the [Header], [Body], @[Footer] and [Page] information. Additional help is available @for each of these functions. @ @Select [Save] to save the new report to disk or [Clear] to erase@the screen and begin a new report. @ @ EXECUTING A NEW OR MODIFIED STRUCTURE FILE @ @Select [Install] to attach the new structure file. Go to the @[REPORT] menu and test run the new report. If it is a label, go@to the [BROWSE] menu and test print the label. Return to the @[CREATE] menu if editing is required. To use the new catalog select @ [DEFAULT] and select it as the active catalog. @[Save] Store catalog changes made during a session. Changes@ are also stored automatically when the program ends. @[Recover] Regain disk space lost by deletions and changes as @ indicated by the status display "Bytes recoverable". @ Lost space is recoverable if the catalog contains @ more than one diskette. @[Protocol] Set the parameters for two serial printers. @ @MODIFYING DISKETTE DATA: @1. Select [Name] and assign a name to the diskette. The catalog@ cannot be updated until a name is assigned. @2. Select [Type] and assign the diskette a type code. The type @ code may be a name such as "Master" or "Backup", or it may be@ numeric code. If "Serialize mode" is ON, a serial number is @ automatically assigned, but may be changed if desired. @3. Select [Comment] if you want to add comments to the diskette.@4. Select [FILTER] to select specific files to be printed on the@ label or to exclude the diskette from reports. @5. Select [Prior] to assign the name and comments from the last @ diskette entered into the catalog. This saves typing when @ entering backup diskettes into the catalog. If the diskette @ has the same name, be sure to assign it a different code. @6. Select [Write] to save the disk name, type, date and comments@ on the diskette. It saves having to retype this information @ the next time the diskette is read into the catalog. @7. Select [Volume] if you wish to create a volume label for the @ disk consisting of the first eleven characters of the name. @8. Select [Exit] and then [Catalog] to save the diskette data. @[Name] Change the name of a diskette. This feature allows @ multiple diskettes of the same name and a different @ code to be entered into the catalog without reading @ the individual diskettes. It is also used to rename @ a diskette: after updating the catalog, return to @ the [MODIFY] menu and [Remove] the "old" diskette. @[Type] Change the type code of the displayed diskette. @[Date] Change the date to the current system date. @[Comment] Change or adds comments to the diskette. @[Write] Store changed data on the diskette. When using this @ function be sure the proper diskette is in the drive.@[FILTER] (Menu) Select the files that will be printed on the @ label or the "selected" status of the diskette. @[Prior] Change the name and comments of a diskette. It uses @ name and comments from the last diskette that was @ entered into the catalog. @[Volume] Create, change or remove a volume label for the disk @ in the "Read" drive using the first eleven characters@ of the assigned name. (A blank name removes label). @[Remove] Delete the displayed diskette from the catalog. @ @Color changes are made by repeatedly selecting the desired item.@Each time an item is selected the color will change and the new @color will be displayed on the screen. To save the changes, @select [Keep] after returning to the [SETUP] menu. @ @[Default] sets the proper attributes for a monochrome monitor as@well as pleasing colors for a CGA or EGA monitor. @ @Toggling the [Filter] function controls retrace blanking. If you@are using a CGA adapter and color monitor you may choose to have@fast screen displays with "snow" or eliminate the "snow" and @have slower screen displays. If you see a flash of "snow" upon @selecting [Filter], retrace blanking is off and you will have @fast screens. If you don't see the flash of "snow" then retrace@blanking is on and the display will be slower. @ @If you have a monochrome or EGA system, set the snow filter for @fast displays. Files may be cataloged @ in sorted order by file name. @Print Labels - Labels may be printed on any printer. @Read Drive - Diskettes may be read from any diskette drive. @Active Catalog - Determines which catalog is currently in use. @Normal Report - Attach the structure files that will be used to@Xref Report generate diskette reports, cross reference@Label Style searches and diskette labels. @ @ LABEL FILTER @ @When a diskette is read, its files are all set to be included on@the label. If there are too many files to fit on a single label,@additional labels are printed until all files are printed. You may choose to overwrite the existing files or to copy @only those files that do not exist. You may also choose to copy@existing files selectively, being prompted before each existing @file is copied. @ @ SELECTING THE EXISTING FILES TO BE OVERWRITTEN @ @If you choose to overwrite existing files or be prompted before @overwriting existing files, you will have a further choice of @which files will be copied: You may choose to copy all existing@files, only those files whose date stamp has changed since they @were last copied or only those files whose date stamps are @identical. When archiving files you may wish to save time by @copying only those files that have been updated.
