- DIRECTIONS TO INSTALL THE NEW UNPROTECTED TISOFT
-
- Hardware Requirements:
-
- You must have an IBM PC/AT or compatible clone with 512K or
- more of RAM, a serial port, and a hard disk drive, and use DOS
- version 2.1 or higher
- or
- A TIPC with 512K or more of RAM, a TIPC serial port, a hard disk
- drive with 10 meg or more and DOS 2.1.
-
- Installation:
- 1. Create a subdirectory on the hard disk called \TI.
-
- 2. Copy the contents of the three floppy disks into the \TI
- subdirectory.
-
- 3. Modify your PATH statement in the Autoexec.bat file to include
- \TI in the PATH statement; ie Path \;\MSDOS;\TI;
-
- 4. Make sure that your CONFIG.SYS file contains the statement
- FILES=10, if not add it with EDLIN or any other text editor.
-
- 5. If you have a TI PC you must also add a statement to your
- config.sys file, the example shown below is for a serial card
- setup for port 1.
-
- ex: DEVICE=E:\TI\TIPCDRIV.COM PORT=1, BUFF=1024
-
- 6. In order to make Tisoft operate properly with your particular
- computer you will have to determine which batch file to use to
- start Tisoft.
-
- There should be three different batch files in the \TI directory
- now.
-
- IBM_P1.BAT - The startup file you should use with an IBM PC and
- serial comm port 1
-
- IBM_P2.BAT - The startup file you should use with an IBM PC and
- serial comm port 2
-
- TI_PC.BAT - The startup file you should use with a TI PC and
- either serial comm port 1 or 2
-
- Once you determine which file you should use, copy it to
- a file called TI565.BAT ex: COPY IBM P1.BAT TI565.BAT
-
- 7. Now reboot the computer to allow it to reconfigure itself.
-
- 8. To startup TISOFT, make a subdirectory that you will use to
- store your program files, lets call it \MYPROG.
-
- 9. Change the current directory to \MYPROG via a CD\MYPROG
- statement.
-
- 10. Then startup TISOFT by typing TI565 <cr>.
-
- Note! When using TISOFT with a TIPC the startup batch file
- invokes the DOS EMULATE command. After using TISOFT in a TIPC
- reboot the computer before running any other software to avoid the
- effects of EMULATE on programs that don't require it to operate.
-
- Using Tisoft with an AT Computer and a 9 pin Serial Port
-
- In order to use Tisoft with an AT computer's 9 pin serial port all
- you have to do is obtain or make an adapter cable to connect to a
- -0003 cable. The cable required has the pin connections as shown
- below:
-
- 9 Pin male (AT end) 25 Pin Female (-0003 end)
-
- 1 1
- 2 3
- 3 2
- 4 20
- 5 7
- 6 6
- 7 4
- 8 5
- 9 22
