  1.         DIRECTIONS TO INSTALL THE NEW UNPROTECTED TISOFT
  2.  
  3. Hardware Requirements:
  4.  
  5. You must have an IBM PC/AT or compatible clone with 512K or
  6. more of RAM, a serial port, and a hard disk drive, and use DOS
  7. version 2.1 or higher
  8. or
  9. A TIPC with 512K or more of RAM, a TIPC serial port, a hard disk
  10. drive with 10 meg or more and DOS 2.1.
  11.  
  12. Installation:
  13. 1. Create a subdirectory on the hard disk called \TI.
  14.  
  15. 2. Copy the contents of the three floppy disks into the \TI
  16. subdirectory.
  17.  
  18. 3. Modify your PATH statement in the Autoexec.bat file to include
  19. \TI in the PATH statement; ie Path \;\MSDOS;\TI;
  20.  
  21. 4. Make sure that your CONFIG.SYS file contains the statement
  22. FILES=10, if not add it with EDLIN or any other text editor.
  23.  
  24. 5. If you have a TI PC you must also add a statement to your
  25. config.sys file, the example shown below is for a serial card
  26. setup for port 1.

  28. ex: DEVICE=E:\TI\TIPCDRIV.COM PORT=1, BUFF=1024
  29.  
  30. 6. In order to make Tisoft operate properly with your particular
  31. computer you will have to determine which batch file to use to
  32. start Tisoft.
  33.  
  34. There should be three different batch files in the \TI directory
  35. now.
  36.  
  37. IBM_P1.BAT - The startup file you should use with an IBM PC and
  38. serial comm port 1
  39.  
  40. IBM_P2.BAT - The startup file you should use with an IBM PC and
  41. serial comm port 2
  42.  
  43. TI_PC.BAT - The startup file you should use with a TI PC and
  44. either serial comm port 1 or 2
  45.  
  46. Once you determine which file you should use, copy it to
  47. a file called TI565.BAT   ex: COPY IBM P1.BAT TI565.BAT
  48.  
  49. 7. Now reboot the computer to allow it to reconfigure itself.
  50.  
  51. 8. To startup TISOFT, make a subdirectory that you will use to
  52. store your program files, lets call it \MYPROG.
  53.  
  54. 9. Change the current directory to \MYPROG via a CD\MYPROG
  55. statement.
  56.  
  57. 10. Then startup TISOFT by typing TI565 <cr>.
  58.  
  59. Note! When using TISOFT with a TIPC the startup batch file
  60. invokes the DOS EMULATE command.  After using TISOFT in a TIPC
  61. reboot the computer before running any other software to avoid the
  62. effects of EMULATE on programs that don't require it to operate.
  63.  
  64. Using Tisoft with an AT Computer and a 9 pin Serial Port
  65.  
  66. In order to use Tisoft with an AT computer's 9 pin serial port all
  67. you have to do is obtain or make an adapter cable to connect to a
  68. -0003 cable.  The cable required has the pin connections as shown
  69. below:
