- `MW Main Help
- |A# (Adapter Number)
- The network adapter the node is connected to.
- |NAME (Node Name)
- The name typed when LANCHECK was started. The node name is case
- sensitive, so joe and JOE are two different node names.
- |NODE NUMBER
- The node number assigned to an adapter. Every node should have a unique
- node number.
- |MINUTES RUNNING
- The number of minutes the node has been active.
- |STATUS
- Tells you if an adapter is active, inactive or local (installed in your
- computer).
- |ERROR INDEX
- A percentage calculated by adding the CRC errors, alignment errors and
- bad transmissions then dividing this number by the successful
- transmissions and receives.
-
- This percentage is only a general indicator of the state of your node.
- It should only be compared against other nodes using the same hardware
- and software, running for approximately the same length of time.
-
- A more complete status report can be obtained by highlighting a node and
- pressing return or by pressing the Ins key and typing the name of the
- node you want a status report on.
- `SH Status Help
- The name of the node you are getting the status report from is displayed
- at the top of the window.
-
- |Adapter Number
- The network adapter the node is connected to.
- |Node Number
- The unique node number assigned to the node.
- |Software Version
- The version number of the NETBIOS software a node is running.
-
- |TRAFFIC AND ERROR STATISTICS
-
- |Minutes Running
- The number of minutes a node has been active.
- |CRC Errors
- A hardware generated error associated with corruption of data as it
- passes through the network.
- |Alignment Errors
- A hardware generated error associated with misalignment of data as it is
- received.
- |Collisions
- Collisions result when two or more adapters attempt to access the network
- simultaneously.
- |Bad Transmissions
- The number of unsuccessful transmissions.
- |Good Transmissions
- The number of successful transmissions.
- |Good Receives
- The number of successful receives.
- |Retransmissions
- Number of times a retransmission was made due to an error.
- |Resource Exhaust
- Number of times a receive could not be made because there were no buffers
- available to receive the data.
-
- |ADAPTER RESOURCE STATISTICS
-
- |NCBs Available
- The number of available Network Control Blocks (NCBs).
- |NCBs Allocated
- The number of NCBs allocated for the adapter by the Reset command.
- |Max NCBs Possible
- Maximum number of NCBs the adapter can support.
- |Active Sessions
- Number of active sessions.
- |Sessions Allocated
- Maximum number of sessions supported by the adapter as configured by the
- Reset command.
- |Sessions Possible
- Maximum number of sessions the adapter can support.
- |Max Packet Size
- Maximum size of a session data packet.
- |Number of Names
- The number of names present on the local name table.
- `AW Select Adapter Help
- If you have multiple adapters installed on your system, you will need to
- specify which adapter to use to find the requested username.
- `NS Enter the Node Name Help
- Enter the node name of the adapter you want to see the status of.
-
- The NETBIOS is case sensitive so you MUST enter the node name exactly as
- it appears in the main window. You can request an adapter status of any
- node running the NETBIOS if you know it's node name. Because you cannot
- enter ASCII zeros you may be unable to access some nodes.
- `CE Critical Error Help
- |Retry the Network, Disk or Device operation
- Selecting this option will attempt the operation again. First, check if
- a floppy disk drive door is open or if some other minor problem caused
- the error. If so, correct the problem and select this option.
- ~01 |Fail the Network, Disk or Device operation
- Selecting this option will cancel the operation in progress and return to
- the last window. You should then correct any problems or type ESC to
- exit the window.
- ~02 |Ignore the error, continue with program
- If you select this option, the program will continue as though nothing
- happened. NOTE: the operation will NOT be properly completed and may
- lead to future errors. In most cases, you should NOT select this option.
- ~03 |Abort the program and return to DOS immediately
- Will exit the program immediately.
- `ST Refresh Rate Help
- The window you are using contains data that is constantly changing. By
- default, LANCHECK updates it's screens every 10 seconds. You can change
- this value from 0 to 3600.
-
- Note that LANCHECK will update the screen every time it receives a node
- number that is new to it's list.
-
- When LANCHECK performs an update it also broadcasts your unique name and
- node number across the network. Making the refresh rate a small number
- will generate more network traffic.
