  5. The following information describes changes and additions to the
  6. Software Carousel software version 5.0 which are not contained in
  7. the manual, due to printing production schedules, late changes,
  8. etc.  Should you have any difficulties with these instructions,
  9. or if you have technical questions of any type, please call our
  10. Technical Service Department.  They may be reached Monday through

  15. Minimum Memory Pool Size
  16. ------------------------

  18. The Software Carousel menu displays the Resource Pool Box in its
  19. menu to show the memory in use.  You cannot adjust work area
  20. sizes in such a way that would reduce the Total Pool Free memory
  21. to less than 32K.  This is a safeguard to assure that enough pool
  22. space is available to save your current text display screen and
  23. that some space will be available for the Print'N'Run feature and
  24. the Snip'N'Snap feature to request.

  28. HOW to REMOVE SNIP'N'SNAP from MEMORY
  29. -------------------------------------
  30.  
  31. This information pertains to the Snip'N'Snap software, which is
  32. an optional "cut & paste" feature in Carousel 5.0.  If you have
  33. not chosen to use this feature, you may disregard this section.
  34.  
  35. Assuming that you run Snip'N'Snap before starting Carousel (the
  36. usual way), if you exit from Carousel you may also want to remove
  37. Snip'N'Snap from memory.  To do this, press the Capture Key
  38. (default is "Alt C") and you will be allowed to exit from
  39. Snip'N'Snap, thus releasing the memory.

  41. This choice will NOT be shown if Software Carousel is running, so
  42. you must first exit from Carousel.  Please note that if you are
  43. running a program or have loaded other TSR programs after
  44. Snip'N'Snap and before Carousel, DOS will not release the
  45. Snip'N'Snap memory.  Therefore, be sure to do this only from the
  46. DOS prompt.

  48. There is no need to worry about TSR programs that you loaded
  49. while you were running Software Carousel, because these are
  50. already removed from memory by exiting from Carousel.

  54. UPGRADING from a previous version of Software Carousel
  55. ------------------------------------------------------
  56.  
  57. If you are upgrading your Software Carousel whose version is LESS
  58. than 3.0, you should print out your old "text format"
  59. CAROUSEL.OPT file (issue the DOS command: TYPE CAROUSEL.OPT >
  60. LPT1).  Then delete the old file, and then create it by entering
  61. the information into the new SCCONFIG program.

  63. If you are upgrading from version 3.0 or higher, you may use your
  64. existing CAROUSEL.OPT file.  Just run SCCONFIG, then exit and
  65. save.  Your .OPT file will be automatically updated for all new
  66. features.

  70. Programmer's Interface
  71. ----------------------

  73. Your program can perform amazing feats by utilizing Software
  74. Carousel as a resource.  The file SWITCHC.ASM, located in the ETC
  75. directory, contains information for assembly language calls to
  76. operate Carousel's functioning from within your own application
  77. programs.

  79. A "C" language package is now available for a handling fee of $10
  80. which permits you to perform all of these functions from your own
  81. C programs.  If you require "C" language support, please contact
  82. our technical support department (as above) to get your "C kit".
