- Software Carousel 5.0 READ_ME.1ST File
- -------------------------------------------
-
-
- The following information describes changes and additions to the
- Software Carousel software version 5.0 which are not contained in
- the manual, due to printing production schedules, late changes,
- etc. Should you have any difficulties with these instructions,
- or if you have technical questions of any type, please call our
- Technical Service Department. They may be reached Monday through
- Friday, 9AM to 5:30PM EST at (603) 644-5555.
-
-
-
- Minimum Memory Pool Size
- ------------------------
-
- The Software Carousel menu displays the Resource Pool Box in its
- menu to show the memory in use. You cannot adjust work area
- sizes in such a way that would reduce the Total Pool Free memory
- to less than 32K. This is a safeguard to assure that enough pool
- space is available to save your current text display screen and
- that some space will be available for the Print'N'Run feature and
- the Snip'N'Snap feature to request.
-
-
-
- HOW to REMOVE SNIP'N'SNAP from MEMORY
- -------------------------------------
-
- This information pertains to the Snip'N'Snap software, which is
- an optional "cut & paste" feature in Carousel 5.0. If you have
- not chosen to use this feature, you may disregard this section.
-
- Assuming that you run Snip'N'Snap before starting Carousel (the
- usual way), if you exit from Carousel you may also want to remove
- Snip'N'Snap from memory. To do this, press the Capture Key
- (default is "Alt C") and you will be allowed to exit from
- Snip'N'Snap, thus releasing the memory.
-
- This choice will NOT be shown if Software Carousel is running, so
- you must first exit from Carousel. Please note that if you are
- running a program or have loaded other TSR programs after
- Snip'N'Snap and before Carousel, DOS will not release the
- Snip'N'Snap memory. Therefore, be sure to do this only from the
- DOS prompt.
-
- There is no need to worry about TSR programs that you loaded
- while you were running Software Carousel, because these are
- already removed from memory by exiting from Carousel.
-
-
-
- UPGRADING from a previous version of Software Carousel
- ------------------------------------------------------
-
- If you are upgrading your Software Carousel whose version is LESS
- than 3.0, you should print out your old "text format"
- CAROUSEL.OPT file (issue the DOS command: TYPE CAROUSEL.OPT >
- LPT1). Then delete the old file, and then create it by entering
- the information into the new SCCONFIG program.
-
- If you are upgrading from version 3.0 or higher, you may use your
- existing CAROUSEL.OPT file. Just run SCCONFIG, then exit and
- save. Your .OPT file will be automatically updated for all new
- features.
-
-
-
- Programmer's Interface
- ----------------------
-
- Your program can perform amazing feats by utilizing Software
- Carousel as a resource. The file SWITCHC.ASM, located in the ETC
- directory, contains information for assembly language calls to
- operate Carousel's functioning from within your own application
- programs.
-
- A "C" language package is now available for a handling fee of $10
- which permits you to perform all of these functions from your own
- C programs. If you require "C" language support, please contact
- our technical support department (as above) to get your "C kit".
