  25. MICROFIELD GRAPHICS BOARD

  27. If you are using the Microfield graphics board in 1280 X 1024 mode
  28. you may encounter a problem with the handles on objects.  Objects may appear 
  29. to be selected when they are not and vice versa.  To correct this problem,
  30. add a line to the WIN.INI file (which is located in the directory that
  31. contains your copy of Microsoft Windows).  After you have installed 
  32. Arts & Letters add the following line in the [a&L] section: "Handles=1". 
  33. Save the WIN.INI file then restart Windows for the changes to take effect.

  37. DOCUMENTATION UPDATE
  38.  
  39. Toolbox Highlight.  If you wish to turn off the white highlight on the
  40. tools in the toolbox you can add the following line in the [a&l] section
  41. of the WIN.INI file: "Tool emboss=0".  Save the WIN.INI file then restart
  42. Windows for the change to take effect.

  44. Object Cache.  In the View menu under Quick Display there is an option to
  45. cache objects within your available memory. It defaults to "On" and will 
  46. speed up the screen redraw time for TIFF images, Warp objects, and text 
  47. bound to a path. (24-bit TIFF images are not affected.) Once the objects 
  48. are cached they will redraw at optimum speed from memory. The cached 
  49. objects can be cleared from memory by selecting the "Clear" option under 
  50. Quick Display-Object Cache. If you are operating in a low memory situation 
  51. you may want to turn the Object Cache "Off" to conserve your available 
  52. memory.

  54. Show Warps.  The Show Warps option in the View menu under Quick Display
  55. has been removed.  The addition of the Object Cache (see above) eliminated
  56. the need for a separate Show Warps toggle.

  58. Hardware and Software fonts.  The Windows WIN.INI file contains separate
  59. parameters for each printer and each printer port installed. For example,
  60. if you have a PostScript printer configured for output to LPT1 and COM2,
  61. your WIN.INI file will contain a [PostScript, LPT1] and a [PostScript,
  62. COM2] section.  In order to print a document that contains hardware or
  63. software fonts, the fonts must be installed in the section corresponding
  64. to the currently selected printer and port.  If you use the Arts & Letters
  65. "To File" command to print to a file, the fonts must be installed in the
  66. section corresponding to the selected printer on the port FILENAME. A
  67. convenient method of installing fonts to various printer/port combinations
  68. is to install the fonts once, then load the WIN.INI file into Notepad and
  69. Copy and Paste the font information to all of the desired sections.
