  5. This 30-day trial version of F-Secure SSH is subject to the Trial License

  10.                             New Features

  13. * Line Draw Font Support
  14.  
  15.   F-Secure SSH 1.1 supports line draw fonts. During installation 
  16.   Linedraw.ttf is copied to F-Secure SSH installation directory, normally
  17.   c:\f-secure\ssh. The user must then install the font manually. To use 
  18.   linedraw fonts the user does not have to select the font Linedraw in 
  19.   F-Secure SSH client. They work with whichever normal font the user wants
  20.   to use.

  22. * Application to Start
  23.  
  24.   There is a new edit box in Edit Local and Remote Forwarding dialog 
  25.   called Application to Start. The edit box allows the user to define the 
  26.   application to be started when starting F-Secure SSH. 
  27.  
  28.   If there is an application defined when starting F-Secure SSH by double 
  29.   clicking a .ssh file the user is prompted for authentication. After the 
  30.   authentication F-Secure SSH client is minimized and the application 
  31.   defined in Properties is started automatically.

  35.                        Installation Instructions

  38. * Installation

  40.   Before starting the F-Secure SSH installation process, close all running
  41.   applications.
  42.  
  43.   1. Insert the F-Secure SSH setup disk into the floppy disk drive.
  44.  
  45.   2.If you're running Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0, choose Run from the 
  46.   Start menu. Otherwise, choose Run from the File menu.
  47.  
  48.   3.Type "a:setup" and press Enter. If your floppy disk drive is associated 
  49.   to another drive letter, use that instead of "a:".
  50.  
  51.   4.Follow the instructions of the setup program to install F-Secure SSH on
  52.   your computer.
  53.  
  54.   The F-Secure SSH Wizard will be launched automatically after the setup to 
  55.   help you generate an RSA Identity.

  61.      Instructions for Users of Previous Alpha/Beta Versions

  64. * Upgrading

  66.   This version is not compatible with the previous F-Secure SSH file 
  67.   formats. Please delete all .SSH files.

  69.   We recommend using version 1.2.17 or later of the F-Secure SSH UNIX
  70.   server for full compatibility and best performance.
  71.  
  72. * Client-Server Issues
  73.  
  74.   The TCP/IP forwarding code works properly only with version 1.2.17
  75.   and above.
  76.  
  77.   IDENTITY files are encrypted with 3DES, old servers that have been
  78.   compiled to use IDEA have an incompatible IDENTITY file format. We
  79.   recommend using version 1.2.17 ssh-keygen utility to update the
  80.   IDEA encrypted IDENTITY file to 3DES encrypted format. This format is 
  81.   also compatible with the Windows version.
  82.  
  83.   We strongly recommend you to upgrade the UNIX server to version 1.2.17
  84.   for best performance and compatibility between the UNIX and Windows 
  85.   programs.

  88.                            Running F-Secure SSH

  91. * What do I need to run F-Secure SSH? 
  92.  
  93.   You must have WINSOCK.DLL (version 1.1 or higher) installed on your 
  94.   Windows system, a Local Area Network or an Internet connection before
  95.   you can use F-Secure SSH. 
  96.  
  97.   To connect to a remote server the server must be running an F-Secure SSH 
  98.   Server for UNIX. This version is compatible with the version 1.2.14 and 
  99.   above. Blowfish block cipher only works with 1.2.16 and above.
  100.  
  101. * Connecting to a Remote Host
  102.  
  103.   To connect to a remote computer using password authentication:
  104.  
  105.   1. From the Edit menu, choose Properties.
  106.  
  107.   2. In the Connection tab, type the name of the remote host you
  108.   want to connect to, and the user name for your account.
  109.  
  110.   3. From the options group select Password as your authentication type.
  111.  
  112.   4. Choose the OK button.
  113.  
  114.   5. Press Enter or from the File menu, choose connect.
  115.  
  116.   6. Type in the password for you account to the Connect Using Password 
  117.   Authentication dialog box.
  118.  
  119.   7. Choose the OK button to connect.
  120.  
  121.   If this is the first time you're connecting to the host, SSH may ask you 
  122.   to accept the host's previously unknown host key.
  123.  
  124.   NOTE: The quickest way to make the connection if your setting are 
  125.   correct is to press the Enter key on the empty terminal windows. This 
  126.   will bring up the connection dialog box immediately.

  203. BY EXERCISING YOUR RIGHTS TO MAKE AND USE COPIES OF THIS SOFTWARE YOU
  204. AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THIS AGREEMENT. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO ALL OF THE
  205. TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, DO NOT COPY OR USE THE SOFTWARE.

  207. GRANT. Data Fellows Ltd. grants you a
  208. non-exclusive license to use this version of the F-Secure SSH software
  209. (the "Software") free of charge for (90) days for evaluation and trial

  213. telephone assistance. While Data Fellows intends to distribute a
  214. commercial release of the Software, Data Fellows reserves the right at any

  255. License, or in any event after the thirty (90) day trial period, you

  258. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES AND UNDER NO LEGAL THEORY,
  259. TORT, CONTRACT, OR OTHERWISE, SHALL DATA FELLOWS OR ITS SUPPLIERS OR
  260. RESELLERS BE LIABLE TO YOU OR ANY OTHER PERSON FOR ANY INDIRECT, SPECIAL,
  261. INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY CHARACTER INCLUDING, WITHOUT
  262. LIMITATION, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF GOODWILL, WORK STOPPAGE, COMPUTER FAILURE

  273. HIGH RISK ACTIVITIES. The Software is not fault-tolerant and is not
  274. designed, manufactured or intended for use or resale as on-line control
  275. equipment in hazardous environments requiring fail-safe performance, such
  276. as in the operation of nuclear facilities, aircraft navigation or
  277. communication systems, air traffic control, direct life support machines,
  278. or weapons systems, in which the failure of the Software could lead
  279. directly to death, personal injury, or severe physical or environmental
  280. damage ("High Risk Activities"). Data Fellows and its suppliers
  281. specifically disclaim any express or implied warranty of fitness for High
  282. Risk Activities.

  284. U.S. GOVERNMENT RIGHTS. If you are acquiring the Software (including the
  285. related documentation) on behalf of any part of the United States
  286. Government, the following provisions apply.  The Software is deemed to be
  287. "commercial software" and "commercial computer software documentation,"
  288. respectively, pursuant to DFAR Section 227.7202 and FAR 12.212, as
  289. applicable. Any use, modification, reproduction, release, performance,
  290. display or disclosure of the Software (including the related documentation)
  291. by the U.S. Government or any of its agencies shall be governed solely by
  292. the terms of this Agreement and shall be prohibited except to the extent
  293. expressly permitted by the terms of this Agreement.

  295. MISCELLANEOUS. This Agreement represents the complete agreement concerning
  296. this license and may amended only by a writing executed by both parties.
  297. This license is personal to you and you agree not to assign your rights in
  298. herein, and any attempted assignment by you shall be null and void.  If
  299. any provision of this Agreement is held to be unenforceable, such
  300. provision shall be reformed only to the extent necessary to make it
  301. enforceable.

  303. This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of Finland.
