  1. This directory contains files that are not very specific to kernel
  2. packages, but deal with generic packaging issues, and can be used in
  3. almost any package. The files are 
  4.  archvars.mk -- calls dpkg-architecture and sets up various arch related
  5.                 variables
  6.  debconf.mk  -- helps with using debconf and translations
  7.  install_cmds.mk -- helps install files, scripts, and programs as part
  8.                     of packaging
  9.  pkgvars.mk -- This is what allows us toseparate out the top level targets,
  10.                by determining which packages needto be built. 
  11.  targets.mk -- The top level targets mandated by policy, as well as their
  12.                dependencies.
