  1. CJK Unicode font Ming style

  4. This font was taken from the from the TrueType fonts generously released by 
  5. Arphic Technologies Taiwan under the Arphic Public License.
  6. It was modified with Fontforge by Arne Goetje <arne@linux.org.tw> to contain 
  7. both Big5 and GB2312 charsets plus some european characters.
  8.  
  9. Currently it fully supports the following charsets:
  10. ISO8859-1,2,3,4,9,10,13,14,15
  11. Big5
  12. GB2312-80
  13. HKSCS 2004
  14. Bopomofo Extensions for Hakka, Minnan (Unicode 4.0) and MBE variants using 
  15. the Alternatives (aalt) feature from the OTF spec.

  17. Partly support is implemented for:
  18. CNS 11643
  19. GB18030
  20. Japanese
  21. Korean

  23. This font is under development, new glyphs for the partly supported charsets 
  24. are constantly added.

  26. This package contains now both variants, Unicode and MBE. However, only the 
  27. Unicode variant is provided as a TTF. In most cases you just need the Unicode 
  28. variant. If you want to install the MBE variant, you need to use xdelta 1.1.3 
  29. to patch the TTF.

  36. IMPORTANT: Only use version 1.1.3, not newer ones, they won't work!

  38. If you use fontconfig (>= 2.3.1), you can copy the ttf-arphic-uming file to /etc/fonts/conf.d/ and run fc-cache to update the fontconfig cache.
