  1. Gutenprint for Debian
  2. ---------------------

  4. This is Gutenprint version 5.0.0-rc1, a beta release in the 5.0
  5. series.  Gutenprint is the print facility for the GIMP, and in
  6. addition a suite of drivers that may be used with common UNIX spooling
  7. systems using Ghostscript or CUPS.  These drivers provide printing
  8. quality for UNIX/Linux on a par with proprietary vendor-supplied
  9. drivers in many cases, and can be used for many of the most demanding
  10. printing tasks.

  12. A complete list of supported printers may be found in the NEWS file.
  13. On Debian GNU/Linux, the NEWS file is called `changelog.gz'.

  15. Documentation can be found in the gutenprint-doc package, which covers
  16. the use of libgutenprint-based programs, and the libgutenprint-doc
  17. package, which covers developing programs using libgutenprint.

  19. Gutenprint was previously known as Gimp-Print.  The name was changed
  20. for the 5.0 release.
