- P3SN - Pentium III serial number deactivation utility, version 0.815
- Copyright 1999 by Richard Coppola for PC-WELT Magazine.
- ====================================================================
-
- This simple utility deactivates the serial number of Pentium-III-CPUs from
- DOS. The idea behind this straight forward approach is to turn the serial
- number off before other applications can read it. P3SN is especially useful
- if your Bios doesn't support deactivation of the serial number. However it
- may be used in addition to other similar Software (i.e. Bios or Intels
- related utility) to enhance safety.
-
- P3SN is best loaded by placing a line like "C:\P3SN.EXE" at the beginning of
- your file AUTOEXE.BAT. Note that P3SN requires Real-Mode to deactivate the
- serial number. That means it won't work if you have a memory manager like
- EMM386.EXE loaded (check your file CONFIG.SYS). It also won't work at the
- DOS-Prompt from Windows, which wouldn't be very useful anyway.
