- Flipper Screen Saver
- README.TXT
- ---------------------------------------------------
-
- Thanks for trying out Flipper, the photographic
- screen saver. Make sure you read this whole text
- file. I'm going to tell you something very very
- very very very important, somewhere in this doc-
- ument, so reading it all may SAVE YOUR LIFE.
-
- Here's the stuff in this file:
-
- 1. Getting going with Flipper
- 2. More information on using Flipper
- 3. Some of the files Flipper uses, and where they
- were put on your computer
- 4. Flipper's mission
- 5. Photo collections

-
- Getting Going With Flipper
- ---------------------------------------------------
- If you're reading this, you've gotten past the
- installation issue. That's a good first step. I
- suppose you'll actually be wanting to use it now.
-
- The very next step is to set up Flipper. Right-
- click your mouse on a blank spot on your Windows
- desktop. When the context menu pops up, select
- Properties. When the window opens up, click on the
- Screen Saver tab along the top.
-
- In the drop-down list of screen savers, select the
- one that says Flipper (you won't be needing any of
- the other anymore). Then click the Settings button
- right next to it. The first time you run it might
- give you a little message that says there are no
- image collections installed. That's OK, just click
- the button to close it.
-
- This is where you do most of your work with
- Flipper. These are the things you have to do to
- get Flipper going:
-
- 1. Type in or select (using the Browse button) a
- directory where Flipper will store and look for
- all the images it will use, from any collection.
-
- 2. Create a collection (if you haven't installed
- one already from our web site) by clicking the
- Create Collection button. Gotta have at least
- one active (checked) collection.
-
- 3. Click the Save button.
-
- Now it will be ready to roll.
-
-
- More Information on Using Flipper
- ---------------------------------------------------
- When you are sitting staring at the Flipper
- Settings window, you can click the Help button for
- more useful information on the program. If you
- click the ? button in the extreme upper-right
- corner of the window, then click on any control
- on the window, you'll get some handy (and more
- importantly, short) help on its purpose.
-
- Check out the help. It has some good and useful
- information about the program and the mission.
-
-
- About Flipper's Files
- ---------------------------------------------------
- Here are some of the files flipper uses. If you are
- using Windows95, the files all go in the
- Windows\System directory. If you are using
- WIndows NT 4.0, they all go in the Windows
- directory.
-
- File Purpose
- ------------- ------------------------------------
- Flipper.scr The actual screen saver itself
- About.jpg The splash graphic. If you want to
- get rid of the splash graphic, just
- delete this file.
- *.ico Icons for the message box. Don't
- delete these.
- Flipper.hlp The Flipper help file. Keep it!
- Flipper.cnt The Flipper help contents file.
- *.ic1 These are the collection files.
- Other junk Buncha files that go with the
- Visual Basic runtime system.
-
-
- Flipper's Mission
- ---------------------------------------------------
- Flipper was written with a mission in mind. We give
- the screen saver away for free. We also make some
- of our photographic creations available for free
- for use with Flipper.
-
- Well, almost free. Here's where the mission comes
- in. If you decide to keep and use Flipper, we ask
- that you make a donation to UAN-EARS. This is a
- group that's part of the United Animal Nations, and
- is called EARS, or Emergency Animal Rescue Service.
-
- EARS is a non-profit organization that travels the
- country, wherever there is a natural disaster,
- rescuing animals in danger. It was founded by
- Terry Crispin. They do absolutely amazing work, and
- need your help. Flipper's mission is to help raise
- money for their travel and supplies, so they can
- continue to do their job.
-
- You can obtain more information about EARS at their
- web site:
-
- http://www.uan-ears.org
-
- You can find infomation about donations,
- volunteering, and more about what they do and how
- they do it.
-
- Please see the help file for more information.
-
-
- Photo Collections
- ---------------------------------------------------
- Flipper is nothing without great collections of
- photographic images. Fortunately, you can get them
- at our web site. Stop by and pick up some more.
- We're always adding more, being the fanatic
- photographers that we are.
-
- Note that our images are fully copyrighted and
- protected with internal copyrights using
- DigiMarc technology. Make sure you consult the
- Help file for details on this and how you are
- allowed to use the images.
-
-
- That's It!
- ---------------------------------------------------
- Thanks again for trying out Flipper. Again, if you
- like it and keep it, please consider a donation to
- EARS, or to your local animal shelter.
-
- Oh yes, the big, very important statement. Uh, I
- spent so much time writing this, I seem to have
- forgotten what it was... Well, if it was really
- important, I'll remember it. As soon as I do, I'll
- make sure it gets posted on our web site. Sorry...
