- USING AVI SCREEN SAVER
- Documentation is also located at
- http://www.stanford.edu/~bfcarter/aviss/
-
- In order to use AVI Screen Saver, you will need to find some
- video files in a format that your computer supports. All Windows
- machines support AVI files. If you have ActiveMovie, which comes
- with Internet Explorer, you will be able to play MPEG and
- QuickTime movies in addition to AVI files. If you have
- QuickTime 3 from Apple, you can take advantage of the built-in
- QuickTime 3 support.
-
- Once you have some movies, add them to the playlist by clicking
- the Add button or dragging them into the playlist window. You
- can then adjust their properties by clicking the Properties button.
- You can rearrange their order by clicking the Up and Down butons.
- Finally, to remove a movie, select it and click Remove. The
- playlist editor also supports multiple selection, so you can do
- these actions on multiple movies at once.
-
- In the Properties dialog, you can choose to Mute a movie by
- checking the Mute option. You can change the Scaling of the
- movie by choosing an option from the drop-down list. You can
- leave this setting on "Use Global Option" to use the scaling choice
- on the main dialog window. You can adjust the number of times the
- movie loops by entering a number in the Looping area. If you want
- your movie to bounce around the screen (this is processor intensive),
- check the Bounce option. To align your movie click on the button
- with the graphic that represents the alignment you want. For
- example, a centered movie is the button in the middle.
- To add titles to your movie, you will need to check the Show Titles
- option on the main dialog window. You will also need to enter a
- title in the Properties dialog. You also have the option of setting
- the font of your title by clicking on the Set Font button.
-
- You can choose a Media Player in the Properties dialog (similar
- to the Windows Media Player). If Auto Detect does not work with
- your movie, try setting this option manually.
-
- In the global options area, you can set options that apply to all
- of the movies. A movie's properties will override these settings.
-
- To save or open a playlist from disk, open the File menu and
- choose the appropriate option.
-
-
- QUICKTIME VS. ACTIVEMOVIE
- ActiveMovie plays movies faster than QuickTime, but it does not
- support as many QuickTime formats as "genuine" QuickTime.
- If you experience problems playing QuickTime movies, edit
- your movie's properties in AVI Screen Saver and change the Movie
- Player to QuickTime (AVISS Implementation) or QuickTime for Windows.
-
-
- KNOWN PROBLEMS
- In Windows NT, QuickTime 3 does not work in screen saver mode.
