  40.         FLASH_P.EXE is a utility to easily update the BIOS on an
  41.         ELSA Permedia graphics board.
  42.  
  43.         You will find a list of supported ELSA graphics boards
  44.         in section 4.1.

  49. 2.      Disk/CD Contents
  50.  
  51.         The program disk/CD contains the following files:
  52.  
  53.         FLASH_P.EXE     the executable program
  54.         DOS4GW.EXE      DOS extender used by FLASH_P.EXE
  55.         README.TXT      this text file, including notes on the
  56.                         current program release
  57.         LIESMICH.TXT    German version of the text you are currently
  58.                         reading
  59.         IMAGES (DIR)    Subdirectory containing the BIOS images which
  60.                         are used for update. You will find a list of
  61.                         these images in section 4.1.

  66. 3.      Usage Notes
  67.  
  68. 3.1     Standard BIOS update
  69.  
  70.         If you want to update the BIOS on your ELSA Permedia graphics
  71.         board just call FLASH_P.EXE from MS-DOS by:
  72.  
  73.         FLASH_P.EXE
  74.  
  75.         The program will look for supported ELSA graphics boards.
  76.         If the program will find one of the supported graphic boards
  77.         in your computer, it will search for the correct BIOS image
  78.         in the directory IMAGES.
  79.  
  80.         After confirmation the program will save your old BIOS to the
  81.         file C:\OLD_xxxx.bin (xxxx is a number, i.e. C:\OLD_0000.bin,
  82.         C:\OLD_0001.bin, ...) and program the new image to your
  83.         ELSA graphics board.

  85.         Notes:
  86.  
  87.         - If the BIOS currently installed on your ELSA graphics board
  88.           is the same version than the BIOS in IMAGES, no update is
  89.           done.
  90.  
  91.         - If the BIOS currently installed is older than the one in
  92.           IMAGES, you will be asked if you really want to program
  93.           an older BIOS version to your graphics board.
  94.           If you confirm with 'y' your current BIOS will be saved to
  95.           C:\OLD_xxxx.bin and the older image will be programmed
  96.           to your ELSA graphics board.

  99. 3.2     Command Line Parameters

  102.         FLASH_P.EXE [filename]
  103.  
  104.         It is possible to pass the filename of the BIOS image, you want
  105.         to program to your graphics board to FLASH_P.EXE.
  106.         If you i.e. pass the name of the saved image to FLASH_P.EXE it
  107.         is possible to restore your saved BIOS version to your
  108.         ELSA graphics board:

  125.         The program FLASH_P.EXE will check if the BIOS image is valid
  126.         and useable with your ELSA graphics board.

  131. 5.      Notes & Warnings
  132.  
  133. 5.1     Don't corrupt your BIOS!
  134.  
  135.         Please make sure that while programming a new BIOS to your
  136.         ELSA graphics board you
  137.  
  138.         - don't reset,
  139.         - don't switch off or
  140.         - don't interrupt your computer in any way until it's finished!
  141.  
  142.         If you interrupt FLASH_P.EXE in any way before finishing your
  143.         BIOS, you will corrupt the BIOS of your graphics board.
  144.         In this case, please phone our support.
  145.  
  146.         Please wait, until FLASH_P.EXE has finished programming the new
  147.         BIOS to your ELSA graphics board.
  148.         The program FLASH_P.EXE will give you a note when it's finished.

  151. 5.2     Running in Windows DOS box
  152.  
  153.         Please note that the program FLASH_P.EXE doesn't work in a
  154.         Windows DOS box. You have to boot a DOS system.
