  41. VIRSCAN.DAT    This is the main data file used by Norton AntiVirus. This
  42.                file replaces the existing VIRSCAN.DAT in your Norton
  43.                AntiVirus directory.
  44. VIRSCAN.INF    This data file is used by Norton AntiVirus to display
  45.                virus information, such as virus characteristics and
  46.                behavior. This file is not required to detect or repair
  47.                viruses.

  91. To update Norton AntiVirus 3.0 virus definitions:
  92.  
  93.  
  94.    1.  Copy all of the files located in the \NAV directory of the
  95.        Norton Antivirus update diskette to the location where Norton
  96.        AntiVirus has been installed.  By default, this is the C:\NAV
  97.        directory.
  98.  
  99.    2.  Scan a drive, directory, or file with Norton AntiVirus 3.0, in
  100.        either DOS or Windows.  Doing so, will automatically update the
  101.        Norton Antivirus TSR.
  102.  
  103.    3.  Reboot your computer to reload the updated Norton Antivirus
  104.        TSR.

  111. To update Norton AntiVirus for Windows 95 virus definitions:
  112.  
  113.    1.  Double-click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop. The My
  114.        Computer window opens displaying your available drives.
  115.  
  116.    2.  Double-click the drive or directory that contains the Norton
  117.        AntiVirus definitions update diskette.
  118.  
  119.    3.  Copy all files from the \NAV directory of the Norton Antivirus 
  120.        update diskette to your Norton Antivirus for Windows 95 folder.
  121.        By default, this is the C:\Program Files\Norton Antivirus folder.
  122.  
  123.    4.  Scan a drive, directory, or file with Norton AntiVirus.
  124.        Doing so, will automatically update the Auto Protect portion of
  125.        Norton Antivirus.
  126.  
  127.    5.  Restart your computer so that the Automatic Protect will use the
  128.        newest virus definitions.

  134. To update Norton AntiVirus for NetWare 1.0 & 2.0 virus definitions:

  144.        AntiVirus for NetWare is installed.

  146.    2.  Insert the Norton AntiVirus update disk into the floppy drive.

  148.    3.  Disable Norton AntiVirus for NetWare, using either Norton
  149.        AntiVirus for NetWare Windows configuration component, or at the
  150.        server console using the function keys.

  152.    4.  Copy all of the files located in the \NAV directory of the
  153.        Norton Antivirus update diskette to the location mapped in
  154.        step 1.
  155.  
  156.    5.  Copy all of the files located in the \NAVNLM directory of the
  157.        Norton Antivirus update diskette to the location mapped in
  158.        step 1.

  161.      Enable Norton AntiVirus for NetWare, using either the Norton
  162.      AntiVirus for NetWare Windows configuration component (NAVNLM.EXE),
  163.      or at the server console using the function keys.

  169. To update Norton AntiVirus Network Manager (NAVUPDAT) virus definitions:
  170.  
  171.  NOTE: The Norton AntiVirus Network Manager maintains a network copy
  172.        of Norton AntiVirus to support distribution. Make sure you have
  173.        access rights that allow read and write operations to the
  174.        NAVUPDAT directory.
  175.  
  176.    1.  Map a drive letter to the volume and directory where Norton
  177.        AntiVirus is installed.
  178.  
  179.    2.  Insert the Norton AntiVirus update disk into the floppy drive.
  180.  
  181.    3.  Copy all files from the \NAV and NAV\NAVUPDAT directory to
  182.        the network directory where the Norton AntiVirus Network
  183.        Manager files reside.
  184.  
  185.    4.  If your version of Norton Antivirus Network Manager is dated on or
  186.        before July 1, 1995, you must modify your .NNS configuration
  187.        file to install/distribute all update files (by default, this
  188.        file is _DEFAULT.NNS)
  189.  
  190.        a) First locate the [InstallFiles] section in your .NNS file.
  191.           Add the entry:
  192.               VIRSP*.DAT
  193.           to the list.
  194.  
  195.        b) Second locate the [DefinitionUpdateFiles] section.  Add
  196.           the entry:
  197.               VIRSP*.DAT
  198.           to the list.
  199.    
  200.     The new definition files are now in place for network distribution.
