  1. I've looked through the archives and the lisp code for rmail and
  2. highlight-headers and really cannot figure this out.

  4. On my workstation when I run rmail, the only thing that lemacs does
  5. for me is to underline the subject.  If I load highlight-headers and
  6. then run rmail it then fontifies as I expect...
  7.  
  8. I could accept the fact that I need to do something to make this work
  9. but another user (on another workstation) uses the same executable and
  10. rmail works as advertised for him (that is, it fontifies the headers
  11. right out of the box).

  15.  Sun Sparc 2 (me) / Sparc 10 (him)

  17.  built with gcc 2.3.2

  19.  lemacs 19.6

  21.  I preloaded (via site-init.el) rmail and sendmail.

  23.  Same X resources for both users.

  25.  Same executable for both users.  My version lives in $HOME/tmp/lemacs-19.6...
  26.  whilst his lives in /usr/local/src/lemacs/bin/...

  28.  I searched his .emacs files trying to see if he {,auto}loaded
  29.  something that might force the loading of rmail-lucid or
  30.  highlight-headers but couldn't find anything.

  32.  If I run lemacs -q and rmail on my workstation, it still fails.

  34.  If he runs lemacs -q and then rmail, it fontifies as expected so I
  35.  would guess that it is neither the executable nor his .emacs files.
