  6.  DIXIE server/library/ud client

  10.  Description:    The dixie distribution contains an intermediate protocol
  11.         server that speaks X.500 on one side and dixie on the other
  12.         (over udp/tcp).  The server does protocol translation,
  13.         ASN.1 encoding/decoding, etc.  The server is used by
  14.         the maX.500 client described below.  Also included
  15.         is a simple Unix client called ud, and an application
  16.         library that can be used by programmers to access the
  17.         dixie protocol (and thus X.500).  Many of the other
  18.         X.500 servers and clients developed at U-M and elsewhere
  19.         make use of this software.
  20.     Changes:    Support for audio attributes and jpeg format photos has
  21.         been added to the server and client library.  The client
  22.         library has been enhanced to try all IP addresses the
  23.         dixie server name has listed in its DNS record (up to 4 IP
  24.         addresses on DOS and on the Macintosh).  Numerous bug fixes
  25.         and enhancements to the server, library, and ud client.

  33.  Description:   ud is simple command line white pages interface to X.500.
  34.         The source is included in the DIXIE source distribution (see
  35.         above for details).  This is a binary distribution that
  36.         includes version 1.10 of ud for the following platforms:
  37.             NeXT machine, NeXT OS 2.1
  38.             Sun Sparc family, SunOS 4.1.1
  39.             Sun-3 (MC68000) family, SunOS 3.5 and 4.1.1
  40.             DEC 3000/5000 (MIPS) family, Ultrix 4.2
  41.             IBM RS6000 family, AIX 3.1
  42.       Notes:    The distribution is a compressed tar file.

  46.   BUD X.500 client for MSDOS
  47.     Location:    ~ftp/x500/bud.exe
  48.      Version:    1.10
  49.  Description:    This is version 1.10 of the ud command-line X.500 client,
  50.         built for DOS using the NCSA TCP/IP software.  It requires
  51.         that your MSDOS machine be configured to run NCSA Telnet.
  52.         There is no documentation for bud at the present time.
  53.       Notes:    The distribution is binary MSDOS .exe file.

  60.  Description:    go500 is a simple daemon that transforms queries from Gopher
  61.         clients to X.500 queries.  Point your gopher client at
  62.         totalrecall.rs.itd.umich.edu port 5555 if you want to try
  63.         this out.
  64.       Notes:    The distribution is a compressed tar file.  go500 has only
  65.         been built and tested on a Sun4 running SunOS 4.1.1.  There
  66.         are definite University of Michigan dependencies in the code,
  67.         but they can easily be cleaned up.

  71.  X.500 Finger daemon

  74.  Description:    This is a replacement for the standard Unix finger daemon
  75.         that looks up names in X.500 instead of in /etc/passwd or
  76.         the local equivalent.  It uses the dixie protocol and
  77.         client library (see "DIXIE server/library/ud client" above).

  79.       Notes:    The distribution is a compressed tar file.  This has only
  80.         been built and tested on a Sun4 running SunOS 4.1.1.  There
  81.         are definite University of Michigan dependencies in the code,

  91.  Description:    This software provides X.500 white pages access from the Mac
  92.        Notes:    This is a Binhex format, StuffIt 1.5 file compressed file
  93.         with the binary and some documentation enclosed.  It can
  94.         be ftp'd in text/ASCII mode.  You will need StuffIt 1.5 or
  95.         later to decode and decompress the file.

  99.  X.500 sendmail

  104.  Description:   A sendmail (5.64 or 5.65, take your pick) modified to
  105.         do X.500 lookups.  Lookups are accomplished by using udp
  106.         to contact the dixie server, which keeps a connection open
  107.         to the DSA.  Instructions for making and configuring things
  108.         are in the sendmail source in READ_ME.X500.  Mail sent
  109.         to <name>@umich.edu makes use of this modified sendmail.
  110.     Changes:    Since 1.0, the x.500 sendmail now uses the dixie server
  111.         instead of duad.  Also, a few changes to the way
  112.         lookups are done (uid's are now looked up). Groups are also
  113.         handled.  A few bug fixes, too.
  114.       Notes:    This distribution is a compressed tar file.  Also, the
  115.         distribution contains only the src/ subdirectory of the
  116.         sendmail distribution, so you should cd into the toplevel
  117.         sendmail source directory before untarring.
