  1.                             MESSIAH2 TILE SET

  5.      as in our previous tile set, Messiah.til, all of the symbols 
  6.      in the Messiah2 set are authentic Christian symbols found from a 
  7.      variety of sources. Some of the tiles, however, are combinations 
  8.      of one or more symbols which we put together to add color and 
  9.      beauty to the set.
  10.  
  11.      Following is a brief description of the tiles:
  12.      
  13.                1. Cross and crown symbolizes a reward for those who are
  14.                   faithful unto death.
  15.                
  16.                2. The Cross Fitchee was used by the crusaders who would 
  17.                thrust the lower, pointed end into the ground during 
  18.                devotions.
  19.  
  20.                3. Celtic Cross, sometimes called the Cross of Iona.
  21.  
  22.                4. The Calvary Cross, sometimes called the Graded Cross.
  23.                    
  24.                5. The Latin Cross.
  25.  
  26.                6. The Cross behind the Bible symbolizes the Apostle Paul
  27.                    who was called "the Sword of the Spirit." The Bible
  28.                    usually has the words "Spiritus Gladius" written on it.
  29.                    
  30.                7. The Cross and triangle is a symbol mostly seen in church
  31.                   embroidery. It means that Christ is one in the Holy
  32.                   Trinity.
  33.  
  34.                8. Saint Julian's Cross: four Latin Crosses joined at their
  35.                   bases.
  36.  
  37.                9. The Latin Cross mixed with the Alpha and Omega symbols
  38.                   which signify the beginning and the end.
  39.  
  40.                10. The Chi Rho: The "X" = Chi, and the "P" = Rho. Together
  41.                    they symbolize Christ.
  42.  
  43.                11. Shield of St. Augustine who was made a bishop in the
  44.                    English Church.
  45.  
  46.                12. The pierced heart: symbol for Mary the Mother of Jesus.
  47.                    "Yea, and a sword shall pierce through thine own soul."
  48.                    Luke 2:35.
  49.  
  50.                13. The Cup and the Cross signifies the bitter suffering
  51.                    of Christ in Gethsemane and on the Cross.
  52.                    
  53.                14. All Seeing Eye of God.
  54.  
  55.                15. The dragon stands for Satan, sin, and pestilence.
  56.  
  57.                16. Bell: sounds forth the Word of God. 
  58.                    
  59.                17. Alpha and Omega: Christ is the Beginning and the End.
  60.  
  61.                18. Stained glass window with the "Fleur De Lis" symbol which
  62.                    is a symbol for Mary.
  63.                    
  64.                19. The Sun: The Son of Righteousness.
  65.  
  66.                20. Alpha-Mu-Omega: yesterday, today, and forever.
  67.  
  68.                21. The butterfly is a symbol for the Resurrection and
  69.                    eternal life.
  70.                    
  71.                22. The shield of St. Clement, who was converted by Saint Paul, 
  72.                    was martyred by being cast into the sea (about 100 AD).
  73.  
  74.                23. Candlestick: Jesus is the Light of the world.
  75.  
  76.                24. Church with Cross. Jesus shines over His Church.
  77.  
  78.                25. Elijah was taken up into Heaven by a flaming chariot.
  79.  
  80.                26. The Archangel Gabriel who brought news to Mary that she
  81.                    would have a son: Jesus.
  82.  
  83.                27. The Lamb of God (Jesus) with the banner of victory.
  84.  
  85.                28. The lion: representative of the tribe of Judah.
  86.  
  87.                29. Thw wolf: representative of the tribe of Benjamin.
  88.  
  89.                30. Christian flag.
  90.  
  91.                31-34. The Cross Crosslet: four Latin Crosses joined in
  92.                    the center (and standing upright) represents the 
  93.                    spread of Christianity to the four corners of 
  94.                    the Earth.
  95.  
  96.                35-38. Serpent and apple tree.
  97.  
  98.                39-42. The Papal Cross: used only in processions when the
  99.                       Pope is actually present.
