- GAME OVERVIEW
- -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Each game will have one or more play screens. Each play screen has a
- picture and four clue lists, one for each of four levels. The clue lists
- describe various items found in that screen's picture. The object of the
- game is to respond quickly to randomly selected clues by moving the mouse
- cursor to an appropriate section of the picture and clicking it. A
- correct response is given when the object diretly under the cross hairs of
- the magnifying glass shaped cursor match the given clue and the left mouse
- button is clicked.
-
- Five clues will be selected at random on each level of each screen. These
- clues represent scoring opportunities. Colored blocks dropping down the
- right side of the screen show the scoring time available for each given clue.
- Quicker correct responses will be rewarded with higher scores.
-
- Penalties will be given for incorrect responses. Each bad click on a given
- clue cuts a scoring opportunity by a third. Three bad clicks and the scoring
- opportunity is missed. A game starts with three misses allowed. Misses
- allowed are represented by pins in the lower right corner of the play screen.
- A new pin is rewarded after each screen past the third one is completed.
- The game is declared over if all of the pins are lost.
-
- Full length games will have ten screens with four levels of five clues each.
- Demos and other game files that offer fewer scoring opporunities will have
- their final scores adjusted so that completed game scores of different games
- may be compared with one another.
-
- An automatic speed control feature will slow the game down when scoring
- opportunities are missed, or if the colored timing block is allowed to get
- too low. This feature may help beginners keep a game going. The speed
- control will shift back up when it senses it is ok to do so.
-
- Another handy feature for beginners is the Computer Aided Movement.
- When selected, the CAM will direct the cursor toward the nearest spot it
- senses as good. The CAM may be turned on or off during the game. A penalty
- is enforced on clues that come up when the CAM is on. This penalty and the
- fact that the player must wait for the CAM to move will keep scores low when
- the CAM is used. It is best left off unless needed.
-
- It can be seen that scoring is based on speed and skill. Guages on the
- play screen show how well a player is doing in these areas. Keep in mind
- that two players may have the same speed and skill and yet end up with
- different scores! Each scoring opportunity counts and it may be the last
- clue on the last screen that puts a player on the high scores board.
