  7. To install WinWisdom 4.1 run SETUP.EXE and answer the prompts
  8. as they appear.  All of the necessary files will be decompressed
  9. and loaded into the proper directory.  A progress gauge will be
  10. displayed showing the percentage completion.  A Program Manager
  11. group will also be added for you.
  12.  
  13. IMPORTANT NOTE #1:  There have been a couple of reports of the
  14. setup program failing on MSAJT110.DL1.  If this happens to you,
  15. first try ending all other running Windows programs except Program
  16. Manager.  Then rerun setup from the File | Run menu of Program
  17. Manager.  If that doesn't work, all of the WinWisdom files can be
  18. decompressed with the DOS command EXPAND.  Extensions will be one
  19. of these: TXT, MSD, DLL, EXE, VBX, or HLP.  The exception is
  20. MSAJT110.DL1 and MSAJT110.DL2.  Combine those two files first using
  21. DOS command 'COPY MSAJT110.DL1 + MSAJT110.DL2 MSAJT110.DL_'.  You
  22. can then expand MSAJT110.DL_ to MSAJT110.DLL.  When all of the
  23. files have been expanded, see README.TXT for the final file
  24. dispositions.  You can then setup a Program Manager group for all
  25. of the WinWisdom executables.  SubNote:  Some system configurations
  26. are slow with large file I/O.  It is not unusual for this file
  27. to take 2-3 minutes to load.  Make sure you give it adequate time
  28. before giving up.

  30. IMPORTANT NOTE #2:  If you have an older version of THREED.VBX in
  31. your WINDOWS or WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory, this setup program will
  32. fail.  A bug in Microsoft's setup software will not copy this file
  33. due to a change in file type.  To get around this problem move or
  34. rename the THREED.VBX that you already have then run SETUP.EXE
  35. again.  After the install completes, keep the most current
  36. THREED.VBX.

  38. IMPORTANT NOTE #3:  Due to another bug in Microsoft's setup software
  39. this program might fail on file VER.DLL.  If it does, move or
  40. rename the VER.DLL that you already have then run SETUP.EXE
  41. again.  After the install completes, keep the most current VER.DLL.

  43. ONE MORE NOTE:  If you are installing this version of WinWisdom
  44. on a system which has a previous release of WinWisdom on it,
  45. you will get a file error when you execute either of the 
  46. WinWisdom programs.  This release uses a completely new database
  47. which is incompatable with the old database.  Since the WINWIS.INI
  48. file used by your old version points to an old file, the new
  49. programs will not recognize the old files as WinWisdom files.
  50. When you receive the file error, just use 'Open' or 'Select file
  51. to use' from the 'File' menu to select one of the new files.
  52. You can prevent this problem from happening by deleting WINWIS.INI
  53. PRIOR to installing the new version.  Registered users will receive
  54. a conversion program which will convert the old file format into
  55. the new file format.  See REGISTER.TXT for information on how to
  56. register WinWisdom.
