-
- The whole CD is completely menu driven with standard GIF file viewers.
- No installation is need if your video card works with existing
- GIF viewer, PICEM.
-
- Each picture are shown in alphabetical order in slide shows driven
- by GIF viewer program PICEM.
-
- If you want to view the pictures in your own pace, you can select the
- picture show viewer program GIFDESK.
-
- If you want more control, including mouse-support and GIF file
- conversions to different graphic formats for presentations or desktop
- publishing, you can install VPIC into your hard disk.
-
- Several other GIF viewers and editors are included in this disc for
- your convenience. Sometimes a certain GIF viewer works in some systems
- but not the others.
-
- INSTALLATION
- We assume you have a VGA card with at least 512k video memory.
- If you have only 256k on your card, refer to PICEM.DOC and
- GIFDESK.DOC (in GIFDESK subdirectory) for instructions on how
- to adjust the command settings in the GO.BAT and GO2.BAT files.
- We strongly recommend you to upgrade you VGA card to at least
- 512k, preferrably to 1M, or you will miss a lot of colors.
- Also a SVGA monitor with 1024x768 resolution enables your to see
- SVGA picture in one screen. If you have only the 640x480 VGA
- monitor, you have to use PAGE-UP/PAGE DOWN keys to see the
- complete SVGA picture.
-
- No installation is needed if you are happy with the default settings
- with PICEM and GIFDESK viewers. Both viewers will work with most
- popular VGA cards. Please refer to PICEM.DOC and GIFDESK.DOC
- for instructions on how to adjust the settings to work with your
- video cards.
-
- VPIC INSTALLATION
- If you need mouse-support and other graphics control, you may need
- VPIC. To install VPIC, follow these steps:
- 1. Make a VPIC subdirectory in your hard disk: MD VPIC
- 2. Copy all the files from your CD-ROM to VPIC subdirectory:
- COPY *.* C:\VPIC (assuming you are in the VPIC subdir
- of you CD-ROM and your hard disk is "C")
- 3. Log into the VPIC subdir of your hard disk. If you don't know
- the chipset of your VGA card, run the utility: WHICHVGA
- 4. It will show you what VGA chipset your card has. Then run: CONFIG
- 5. You'll see a list of VGA cards, choose the one that WHICHVGA
- suggests.
- 6. A customized version of VPIC for your VGA card will be created.
- 7. Add VPIC to your DOS path in your AUTOEXEC.BAT (optional) or you
- may run "SET PATH=D:\VPIC" ("D" is the letter for your hard disk)
- before you run VPIC in othe subdirectories.
- 8. Mouse driver must be loaded before running VPIC if you want
- mouse support.
