  8. Welcome to the Slackware Linux installation disk, (v. 2.1.0-UMSDOS)

  12. This is a special distribution of Linux designed to be installed on an existing
  13. DOS partition without reformatting it or damaging your existing data. You will
  14. need anywhere from 10 to 150 megabytes of free space, depending on how much of
  15. the software is installed. You will also require 8 megabytes of RAM, or 4 
  16. megabytes plus a swapfile or swap partition. A swap partition is more efficient,
  17. but requires repartitioning of your hard drive. See the Installation-HOWTO if 
  18. you need information on creating a swap partition.

  20. Once you have prepared a swap partition (if you need one), type 'setup' to start
  21. the installation process.

  23. You may now login as "root".
