- As they wear, chains stretch. As they stretch, chains begin to retard the
- cam timing. This is not a problem with either gear, shaft, or belt drive.
- There have been a number of DOHC engines, both inline and v, using gear
- drive, but most have been exotics or racing engines. I don't think the
- method of cam drive is the single criterion for assessing an engine. FWIW.

- Oxygenated fuels are fuels that contain non-hydrocarbon compounds such as
- ethanol or MTBE, which contain oxygen in their atomic structure. It is
- known that during the winter, when combustion temperatures are reduced (due
- to the colder air), more uncombusted fuel and other bad stuff form.
- Therefore, the addition of these oxygenated fuels serves to compensate for
- that problem. However, ethanol and MTBE produce less energy than for a
- corresponding equal amount of regular gas. Ergo, your gas mileage drops.
