  14. DESCRIPTION
  15.  
  16. Netoscope is a simple and effective tool to monitor Internet services 
  17. such as web, ftp, or mail servers.  When a monitored service fails, 
  18. Netoscope can notify you about it or even correct the problem if 
  19. possible.  This makes it a useful tool on both the server and the 
  20. client sides.

  23. IMPORTANT NOTE (for first time users)
  24.  
  25. This application anchors its icon near the clock in the system tray 
  26. which, by default, is located at the bottom right of your desktop.  
  27. You may invoke the application menu by right-clicking on the icon.

  32. - v1.11 on 1998-10-16: Displayed the application system tray icon 
  33.   after logging on when the program is used as an NT service, and 
  34.   fixed a batch processing bug that was introduced in v1.1.

  36.   possible loss during an abnormal termination of Windows.

  41. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  43. - Windows 95, 98, NT v4.0, or later.
  44. - Enough free disk space to accommodate the software (less than 0.5MB).

  54. INSTALLATION

  56. Close the application if it is currently running, then run the 
  57. SetupNetoscope.exe file and follow the instructions.

  60. UPGRADES

  62. Close the application if it is currently running, then install 
  63. the new version on top of the old one, unless otherwise specified 
  64. in this file.

  67. UNINSTALLATION
  68.  
  69. Close the application if it is currently running.  Click the Windows 
  70. "Start" button, and select "Settings", then "Control Panel".  
  71. Double-click the "Add/Remove Programs item".  Proceed by 
  72. double-clicking the line corresponding to this product and follow 
  73. the instructions.

  75. Note that configuration files, generally with a ".dat" extension, 
  76. and registration files, namely "Registration Form.txt", may be 
  77. created by the application and will not be deleted for your 
  78. convenience in case you wish to refer to them at a later date.  
  79. Delete these files manually if you do not want them.
