- What is Sizer?
-
- Sizer is a simple program that allows any window to be resized to predefined
- dimensions. This can be very useful when, for example, you need to see how a
- web page will look with different screen setups. Designing a page on a 17"
- monitor may look fine at 1024x768 but not so good on a 14" monitor at 640x480.
- Sizer allows you to quickly change the overall window size (not the screen
- size) to ensure the page design works well at all sizes.
-
- Sizer can also be used to set a window size accurately before a taking
- a screen grab. This can be very useful when you need to take grabs of a
- number of applications and you need the resulting grabs at the same size.
-
-
- Using Sizer
-
- To use sizer simply run the program and an icon will appear in the Windows
- system tray. Right click on the icon to bring up a menu. The top part of
- the menu will contain dimensions to resize the active window.
-
- The Configure Menu option will bring up a dialog box to allow your own
- custom window sizes to be defined. These settings are saved in the registry
- and will be used the next time sizer is run.
-
-
- How did it come about?
-
- The original idea for Sizer came from a usenet post from Kevin Kalp. The
- first prototype was created over a lunch hour - this was version 1.0.
- Alexander Woodby from Tuscow suggested the addition of the customisable screen
- sizes - this is version 2.0. The program is exactly 500 lines of C code.
