  8. For those of you who are sick and tired of ruining their phone with white and 
  9. beige boxes that make stupid (and now because of ESS, worthless) tones, there 
  10. is now an alternative. (Thanks to Magnus!) 
  11.  
  12. How this came about:
  13.  
  14. Once I was reading and complaining that there must be a better way to attach 
  15. alligator clips to a phun phone without ruining it and making it a permanent 
  16. phone man's set.
  17.  
  18. I began to contemplate the basic idea of this new box, when I said, "I just 
  19. happen to have a spare modulator and some phone wire in my phreak kit at home!"
  20. Immediately I got some alligator clips. By the thought I was thinking, I knew I
  21. was up to something to solve this pain in the ass problem.

  23. Construction of the Modu-Box:

  25. You will need:
  26.  
  27. 2 alligator clips
  28. 2 lengths of wire
  29.    Preferably red and green about 1/2
  30.    a foot long.
  31. 1 phone modulator
  32.    This can be bought (shoplifted!)
  33.    at Radio Shack or other
  34.    electronics stores for not very
  35.    many bucks.  (No bucks if
  36.    shoplifted: the five finger
  37.    discount)  They are simply a
  38.    little beige colored square piece
  39.    of plastic that has a phone jack
  40.    in the front, and when the back is
  41.    taken off, the inside has 4 wires
  42.    ready to hitch up to a phone line.

  47.           green terminals inside

  59. The black and yellow should be left alone. (for later use)

  61. Now plug your phone into the jack, open up the terminal (explained in the 
  62. "Terminal Phun" phile), attach the alligator clips to the bolts inside, and if 
  63. you get a dial tone, then phreak OUT!

  65. If you really want to be a smartass, you can use the black and yellow also and 
  66. make a party line! (brown box)
